i didn't know about this limitation and in fact i think this is a shame that the amiga 1200 can't display games in 256 colors easily.

yes flink is beautifull too. One of the last real amiga games.
I often asked myself what games were in production before commodor die and were canceled. We should try to ask to some compagny like psygnosis or others.

ps: in fact i wouldn't know it could make me .

Flink only uses 64 colors because the GFX were ripped from the original megadrive version which only can do a max of 64 colors in screen

The AGA game which is by far more colorful is olofight

Weren't most AGA games in 256 colourd e.g. Banshee, Star Trek, Gloom etc?

What about ham games - lost more colours: Pioneer Plague, Links or Labyrinth of Time?

[ Show youtube player ]

[ Show youtube player ] (pc version but looks similar)

[ Show youtube player ] (ok not much of an action game)

Chaos Engine doesn't use much more than 100 colours for the AGA version (taken from the screenshots on HOL that is), but Donk does: http://hol.abime.net/388/screenshot (#5 for example uses 256)
I'd say at least some fast paced games use all 256 colours. It's not that hard to check either

ok many of these games just use copper or am i wrong ???
or just have no scrolling or have tiny characters.
fighting spirit is 64 colors it seems, which is not bad at all.
i did a screenshot of capital punishment during gameplay and ppaint count 183 colors but which tricks was used in capital punishment ???
big spite in this game really good animation many colors just the difficulty which is too hard i find. But in a technical point of view impressive piece of code.
someone now how this game was done ?

for donk, this the copper rainbow which make the colours.
and i don't know if it's a good idea to take the screenshot from hol, they must be altered, ppaint count more than 1.000 colors for capital punishment when i take a screenshot from hol.

more i think about and more i think why they didn't add a lower screen resolutionin teh amiga 1200, keep all the resolution it has and add one like the snes have.
Do you think that a lower resolution 256x224 bye exemple could have help to make more colorfull games or with bigger sprite, with bigger i mean on screen not the number of spite it use.

IrfanView see 168 colors in first Quake and 219 in second. It may be not true because of problems with watermarks (3 on single screenshot...)
