Fpga - vga to hdmi/dp

So, the last/small monitor i had that actually supported VGA is dead, may you rest in pieces, it was pretty damn small anyways so no major loss, but i used it as the display for my Chameleon 64 V1, and now i need a replacement.

Or i could buy 1 of those seemingly magic adaptors so i can just use the Chameleon on a hdmi/displayport monitor, of which i have several 13" slim portable monitors.

The problem i see after scouring amazon and a few other sites is that a lot of these dont always seem to work, or have issues when they do, so has anyone here used any such adaptor before? or even better yet, an adaptor which they actually used on the Chameleon? If i can avoid buying a handful of adaptors until something "might" work, that would be ideal.
