Cloanto 3.x Rom A1200 install - Workbench.library?

Afternoon EAB,

I've just installed my Cloanto 3.x Rom set into my A1200 - Not prob boots up lovely to the default boot screen.

I've now installed onto a 4GB CF-IDE the 'Classic Workbench' [ADVSP] (Scalos) within WinUAE successfully - Boots into Workbench no probs from the CF Card Reader (Using the Rom File - KS ROM v3.1 (A1200) rev 40.68 (512k)).

When I boot from the CF card in my A1200, I get so far in then I get the error box [Scalos Request] 'Couldn't open workbench.library V39.x'.

Now I've looked on Amiga Forever for insight, as well as put my License Key into the 'Genuine' form...but haven't heard anything back from Cloanto yet.

Do I need to purchase something else in addition to the Rom chips, just when I purchased the ROM chips this wasn't stated (AmigaStore.eu)?

As always, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance, Chris.

i think they removed the workbench.library from the ROM, to free some space for something else.
so you have to put it into your sys:libs folder.
you can use 45.136 from Foul's library collection, rename it and put it in libs: folder:
copy workbench_45.136.library libs:workbench.library.

#1) 45.136 not tested with scalos, but i'm sure it will work. give it a try.

#2) problem with this BS rom version - you allways have to provide the workbench.library on any boot medium.
so if you boot a floppy which wants to load the workbench, you have to have the workbench. library on that floppy.

#3) do not buy anything else in this regard!

Or, you first boot to something that has workbench.library (typically your hard drive) where you use LoadModule to make it boot resident (typically in startup-sequence).

yes, but the average user does not even know about this possibility.

just found out, once you bought the 3.x rom you get a key which enables you to download the workbench.library from their website.

Each 3.X ROM set comes with a license key that can be used to download the ROM or the "workbench.library" file for installation or recovery purposes. To register for support, please refer to cloanto.com/genuine.
if the 45.136 version does work, dont bother with the cloanto version.

Thanks for the advice guys.

However I did try the 45.136 from 'amiga.foul.fr' site prior to posting, which I did get a little further however it came back with a [software failure] box stating 'ramlib - program failed (error #8000000B. Wait for disk activity to finish. [Suspend / Reboot]).

So I assumed I had got the wrong wb.library, hence posting my initial query?

Chris.

you can try the remaining 45.x versions - if they fail too, go the cloanto way and download it from their website. i think they will deliver the 39.x/40.x library, which came with the original kickstart 3.0 /3.1

#1) flood their mailbox until they answer

Try to find an A4000T Workbench 3.1 disk, that will have workbench.library v40 on which should work.

ok, i start with providing the link to loadmodule.
I'm using LoadResident - which is included in PeterK's IconLibrary.
and here is a snippet from my startup-sequence - only as a reference- almost on top of ss:
Code:
Version >NIL: workbench.library 45
If WARN
  LoadResident >NIL: LIBS:icon.library
  LoadResident >NIL: LIBS:layers.library_45.27
  LoadResident >NIL: L:ram-handler_44.24
;;LoadResident >NIL: LIBS:graphics_40.26beta3.library
;;LoadResident >NIL: LIBS:graphics_40.25b8.library
  LoadResident >NIL: LIBS:workbench.library_45.136 REBOOT
EndIf

In case it helps, the workbench.library from Amiga Forever Classic Workbench 3.1 is 39.29. It installs to libs by default in that version of workbench. I am using it with their 3.X (45.64) ROM in an A2000
