What's your top fave 8-bit game tunes?
I did a video some time ago showing my personal top 20 8-bit computer game tunes and would be interested to hear if any tunes in this video are in your top lists too.
Now as said It's going back a bit now when I uploaded this video and since then there a few other tunes I like now that are not in this video (such as Death Wish III - C64, Savage - C64, Rolling Ronnie in-game music - C64, Marauder in-game music - ZX) but apart from those and the ear peercing 48k tunes at the beginning of this video, the list is pretty much the same. Turrican 1 and 2 on C64.
Close second is Turrican on Atari ST (I know, it is not 8 bit, but often it feels that way ) |

C64 SID chip, so cool:
Monty on the Run probably the best, followed by Last Ninja 2, Commando, Rambo and Thing on a Spring. If talking game tunes, most (if not all) the variations of the Ocean Loader are magnificant Honorable mentions to Last Ninja, Spellbound, Phantom of the Asteroids, Master of Magic, Platoon, Last V8, Auf Wiedersehen Monty, Crazy Comets and Ghost n Goblins |

Oof, that's a hard one. But I'm going to go with...
#1 Commando C64 (title), without a doubt. Legendary tune. #2 R-Type C64 (title) #3 Last Ninja C64 (first level most of all) Although I prefer the Last Ninja Remix Amiga version... Yeah I didn't play too many 8-bitters to be honest. I played quite some MSX games but none of the music really stands out to me; good games but the music was usually very simple. The Zanac title music is a personal favorite tune of the MSX and it shines in it's minimalism. |

I second Ghost n Goblins on the C64. Oh and most of the music from Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

sid power!
Green Berets, Delta, Cybernoid 2, Deliverance, Monty and many more... in reality many c64 games hide a cool piece of sound, in loading, main menu or game itself apart the well know ones, the first that comes in mind are Ark Pandora and Enigma Force around two weeks ago i finally have completed the almost impossible Captured, and well, the repetitive and soft music imo fits perfectly for that bastard game |

Forbidden Forest.
If I remember correctly an early C64 game, but the music was (and still is) fantastic. [ Show youtube player ] Monty on the Run Last edited by DaveInFL; 23 July 2021 at 16:39. |

Too much C64, other platforms count as well, you know!
I haven't played much Atari 8-Bit (A8) in years, but a few that stand out to me are: Blue Max Zybex Ninja Ninja Commando Glorious A8 goodness right there! I'm particularly fond of those bass notes the A8 is capable of producing with ease. |
