IFF Types
I'm enjoying the section in the Amiga User Interface Style Guide where it suggests I have to get in touch with Commodore if I wish to define a new IFF Type ID for my application.
"A registry of IFF form and chunk types is available from Commodore on the IFF disk". Does the canonical list of "recognised" type codes still exist somewhere ? |

You can find the document they’re referring to on the Developer CDs, I think, and probably elsewhere (i.e., with SDKs/NDKs), but I don’t know if there’s an official authority that “owns” and maintains this resource. Possibly the OS4 documentation Wiki?

Last I heard, Steven Solie was keeping track of that. He currently works on the ExecSG kernel of AmigaOS 4.x.

Thanks so much!
So seems there are now a ton of useful chunk types registered that I could use inside my file (eg UTF8) but I couldn’t see a usefully generic FORM type. I suspect I won’t go to the hassle of trying to figure out how to register a new FORM type, I’ll just invent one and use it. If I get anywhere with an app I might try and figure it out then. |
