Soldering practice:

I wanted a dual IDE-CF card with a female connector on a right-angle so the card would sit parallel with the PCB but such a thing seems not the exist.

So I bought one of these:

And with the aid of my wife's hot-air gun (for bead-making) removed the connector and replaced it with the end of an IDE ribbon cable:

Still Works

Despite the eBay trader being based in Hong Kong postage was free, less than a week, the card cost less than £2.00, AND this is a really good quality adaptor. I'd recommend them.

Just a bit of preparation for some heavy-duty soldering I've got coming up.

Ahh.. a man after my own heart, real old-skool soldering.

None of yer fancy hot air station rubbish, give me a Black & Decker paint stripper gun and I'm sorted.

Well done, mate!!
