Problematic WHDLOAD Games & Solutions

Hi dear Amiga Folks .
I found a few games that just dosent want to work.

They have pretty much the same problems.

Some Crash when you press a random Key ( besides the Quit Key )
Others run to the main screen of the game but after that, nothing.
And the last one is just a black screen.

Maybe, if we work together we can solve this puzzle.
(This are some games on top of my head,)

Games that Crash if you press a Random Key.

Shadow of the Beast 3
Leander

Games that run to the Main Screen

Shadow of the Beast 2
Arabian Nights
Barbarian ( Palace )

Games that stuck on black Screen

Batman - The Movie

No matter what version of WHDload or the slave, same problem.
MY Config is a AMIGA CD32 Elsat Promodule 8MB Fast-Ram + CF Card
and AMIGA CD32 SX32 Pro 64 MB Fast + CF Card

No corrupt files and Max Tranfer setting is all ok.
A Friend of mine have an A-3000 and has exact the
same problems, with the same games.

This can´t be an coincidence.

Please Help

PS:Please post Problems and Solutions to keep this Thread alive
and to help others

Shadow of the Beast 3 = Black after 2 Screens and No Quit
Leander = Black after 5 Screens (Dragon) and No Quit

Shadow of the Beast 2 = Black after 2 Screens - Quits Normally
Arabian Nights = Freezes on Intro Anim - Quits Normally
Barbarian = Black after 1 Screen - Quits Normally

Batman = Always Black - Quits Normally
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aladdin = Crashes during Intro... Music Loop Continues

Amiga 1200 + 040/25 + 32 Meg
All with NOCACHE on
Whdload version 17.2 (Unregistered - and not likely to, the way things are)

Nobby has a 040 CPU, it's known for WHDLoad problems. Though can't see why you have problems with this specific games, maybe MMU related? All games works fine here on my ACA 1230 or M-Tec 1230.

HI. No i dont have any MMU. The weird thing is some of the games run on an stock AMIGA CD32 with WHDLOADCD32.

But when i use my expansions ( SX32-Pro, or the Elsat Pro Module ) the games above wont work.

A Friend of mine have an AMIGA-3000 with an 68030 and have exact the same problems with exact the same games.

coincidence ?

We all use OS3.9, do you think thats the problem ?

OS 3.9 "could" be a problem. Never used anything higher than OS 3.1 on my A1200.

Sorry for asking, but do you have a legit key ?
All sorts of weirdness happens when using blacklisted keys.

I`ve tested the following games on A1200 040/40. They all work fine. For SotB2 NoCache was active.

Shadow of the Beast 3
Leander
Shadow of the Beast 2
Barbarian ( Palace )

All the above games work perfectly, on both my Amiga 1200's.

Amiga 1200, Blizzard 1230 MKIV, with Classic Workbench ADVSP

Amiga 1200, Blizzard 1260 with Classic Workbench OS3.9 BB3

Both use a Legit version of WHDLoad 18.0

Are you kidding me ? I support Bert Jahn and his awesome WHDLOAD !!!

; and so should everyone that loves the AMIGA !!!!

(sorry, but only thinking of stealing WHDLOAD makes me so ANGRY)

WHDLOAD = GREATNESS and the 20 euro are a gift for what you get
(THANK YOU SO MUCH BERT & all the SLAVE WRITERS !!!! )

Buy your´e WHDLOAD today !!!! ( if you dont already have it )
(and if you are a thief to Bert´s hard work and all the "Salve" writers , then F. off ... )

(Sorry, but like i said, just thinking of it makes me angry....)
BUT that´s not the point of this thread.

THE POINT is, that some games are "PROBLEMATIC" and we seek help and want to help.

And for example Shadow of the beast 2&3 are games that a few people have problems with.

THATS why i call that "PROBLEMATIC GAMES"....

I think that have something to do how this games are programmed.
SOTB2 gave me even back then problems...but not Turrican 2
;you see, i think there is something deeper going on.
Why it affect certain Amiga Configs... i dont know; and THAT´s THE POINT of this thread. To find out , WHY, and what can we do about that.

I LOVE THE MAN !!! ( ähh for his hard work and all )
And all the talk... "ohh you dont have a legit key" is total BS !!!!

Why cant you understand that under some Configs certain games WONT WORK !!!
( mostly programmed outside of commodores rules )

Maybe the games are already corrupt on the cf-card? Your friend is using the same cf?
Otherwise create a dump and attach the .whdl_register here.

Hello Bert .
No, my A3000 friend uses another CF.
I dont have the discs anymore ( like with Turrican 1 , 2 ,3 , Apydia ,ect... )

Back then i bought it .. Yeah, i got the pirate versions first,
but the games where so great i BOUGHT the ORIGINALS !!!!
( how many of you people actually did that , you pirates !!!!! )

So i used the games from the KGWHDLOAD page.
( i used to have those games.. )

And the files cant be corrupt.
No matter if i extract them direct from CD (LHA Archive) to RAM or CF ...
Always the same problem.

But i guess, it have no point.

I think i give up.

The only game i really want to play from that list is Arabian Nights..
(maybe, also Batman... for the music

You know i am registered !!!
Wolfgang Hiptmair , Österreich.... . ( Hippi_79 im PSN )

Should i close this thread ?
Nobody believe me.....
There are even a few posts on problems with certain WHDLOAD games ...
But no real help ( besides... TYPE NOCHACHE in tooltype )
great...i guess i should give up.

and maybe i will.

If people are continuing say...
" ohh .. you games wont work because your´key isn´t a legit one"
then its not worth the trouble.

I just know that some games won´t work.
And the Crazy thing is...
I tryed i think 4 verions of shadow of the beast 3, even JST installs.....
all the same result.... AMIGA CD32 resets after pressing a key on the keyboard. ( besides the quit key )

THAT ALONE IS PROOF THAT IT DEPENDS ON THE AMIGA SYSTEM CONFIG AND HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH pirated whdload keys!

Lets see how things go and then i close this thread in a few days.
Maybe some other people come to back me up... or not. we see.

BIG RESPECT to BERT and the Slave drivers

Calm down, we now know that you're using a legally bought key!

I may have a look at the patches you've been reporting in the next days, I'll start with the oldest patches first, might be possible they indeed need some updates.

No offence intended, but I just had to ask to rule out the possibility.
You see, there's been quite a few posts about problems in the past and in most cases a counterfeit key was the problem.

Ohh thats ok. But only thinking of the worst in people...
Like i said , i bought my games back in the day ORIGINAL !!!
( how many actually did that ? )

And to think someone steals the work of Wepl and all the slave writes p.sses me of with no end !! ( sorry ... but it´s true )

That´s also the reason why i was so "emotional" when people told me that my key isn´t legit and i stole from bert.

So, if you want to know "how to get me up there " ... then you know, now.
