Sound 7 sec. after graphics
Hello evryone. I'm totally new in this forum so maybe I ask a question that's already been answered before.
I have a Pentium 400 with 256 MB and a TNT2 videocard ( DON'T LAUGH !). When I load a game with WinUAE the graphics are ok (40-45 fps) but the sound is much too late. So when I shoot several robots with Ruff'n'Tumble (excellent game!), I hear nothing. Then after a couple of seconds I hear the shootings and the explossions. Is this a common problem ? Is it possible with my pc configuration to emulate the graphics and sound at the same time ? (backround info: I'm 26 and always loved the Amiga. My first one was a Amiga 500+, then the 1200. I've had lots of games and my favourites were and are: Cannon Fodder, SWOS, Great Courts2, Mortal Kombat, Body Blows, Superfrog, Ruff'N'Tumble, and many, many more) |

I know this might sound a bit harsh but.... Upgrade your PC, it isn't upto perfect emulation with sound and everything else!!
(Turn sound off and you might get 50fps!!) |

Exactly. The bigger the sound buffer, the bigger the sound lag.

Also try frame skip, if all else fails.

actually... try increasing/decreasing. When I get a sound lag I set the buffersize to 4 and it usually works great! But that's maybe because I have a relatively fast computer. Also try to reduce the freq. |

Reducing the sound buffer too much on a P400 machine might actually cause the sound to get really choppy, so be careful with this tip!
I know what I'm talking about (P133 -> K6-266 -> K6-III-450 -> Athlon TB). something to your remark from the first post: People who would LAUGH about other people's low-performance PCs are, to my opinion, wretched assholes and might as well jump in a lake. So don't rack your brains too much about your machine. |
