Don't forget we're talking about the BEST AGA games here, not "which one has best graphics or pushes the AGA chipset the most?". Even if a game doesn't really push the hardware that much, it can still be a good game.
My favourites are: Pinball Fantasies Pinball Illusions Slamtilt Xtreme Racing Trolls Gloom Deluxe Shadow Fighters Super Stardust Alien Breed II Alien Breed - Tower Assault Fightin' Spirit Simon the Sorcerer Beneath a Steel Sky CD32 (because of the speech) Civilization Colonization (because of extra sound, and being able to play in Workbench) OnEscapee (excellent Another World/Flashback hybrid) Probably many more. Most are already mentioned anyway. |

i love Beneath a Steel Sky but i hated the cd32 speech version.
i've only played the start of the game i'll admit that but i can't see how the cd32 version differs from the ecs at all apart from the speech and ridiculous password system. i'm sure i read it was meant to take "full advantage of the aga chipset" colours???? |

AGA = total failure.
Not only was the hardware not that great..but the support was also pretty lacklustre. I dont think there is any reason to own an aga amiga if youre in to games, everything is aviable for ocs/ecs machines.. But i guess alladin and banshee are the best aga exclusive games. |

AGA wasn't that good really was it. A damn let down.
Some damn decent games came out but yeah, they never looked THAT much better than ECS/OCS games. Some AGA exclusive top-notch games IMO are: Roadkill Slam Tilt Pinball Illusions Banshee Alien Breed 3D Putty Squad Demo XTreme Racing |

True, AGA was not what it should have been. But I also think it never really got a chance anyway. But that is offtopic.
As for greatest games. Alladin impressed me. Lion king disappointed me. Pirates gold was total horror and should have been what the svga version was. But it was a mangled A500 version. Pitty. My absolute favorite is xtr-racing and the doom clone (when you have a beefy processor) |

I compared Aladdin on WinUAE & Aladdin on Genesis/Kega Emu. The AGA version looks worse!
That's funny but I remember it looking great on my real A1200. I might have to hook it up sometime. Banshee while having great graphics, the gameplay wasn't that great & had no music! Why so many AMIGA games even on AGA only had sfx or let you choose between sfx & music. |

What about the memory?
Chaos Engine, Chuck Rock 2, SuperFrog, Turrican etc... had both. But other like Project X, Alien Breed, Assassin... didn't. |

A few games didn't offer music + sfx because it is difficult with just 4 channels of audio to play with, and lets be honest, music does become annoying and grates after a short while... Sfx though.. genwerally they never grind!

For me, most of the stuff that made my A1200 worth having was PD - demos mostly, and the odd game here and there. Some commercial games that deserve a special mention, though:
Super League Manager (hence my nickname!) Slamtilt Worms CD32 Fantastic Dizzy CD32 (with CDDA soundtrack!) Arcade Pool Arcade Snooker (!) Liberation Jetstrike It was especially satisfying to run Liberation with all of the wall textures included, even though it took half an hour to install to my HD |

One of the most amazing aga games is MegaTyphoon.
I had the two or three levels demo and played over and over. I wonder if theres a finished version with more levels. |

Don't diss AGA too much. Without it, there would have been no Worms: The Directors Cut - Possibly one of the great games around. The OCS/ECS version would have been crap like the original Amiga Worms, which was a let down.
