Poll: Should Ultima 6 music be regarded as a "top 10" Amiga rated tune?
Well, I've been reading Cody's "top 50 all-time" Amiga tunes listing with interest. And let me make it clear Codyjarret, this IS NOT an attack on you, its your rankings after all.
But after your controversial selection of Ultima 6 amongst the "top 10 amiga tunes" of your listing, & saying there hasn't been much reaction, I think we need a poll to settle the issue! So, we'll keep this one simple, what does everyone think of Ultima VI's musical listing at no.9 of Cody's list? http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7465 |

BTW, the Ultima 6 Amiga music are proper mods, with proper instruments and not, for example:
- PC Speaker music, or - MIDI tunes Listen to it before voting, won't ya? |

I still think it shouldn't be removed from the list. It's Cody's list, it's not a list made through people's votes. So leave it there.
We all know Cody is wrong though |

Bah, everyone knows Ultima 7 is the best game of all time. Enough squabbling about U6 tunes, let's talk about Ultima 7!

One of the yes votes is mine.
I agree with Cody's assessment of the music, in so much as I also think it fits the game perfectly, helping to draw the player into the fantasy world. That it was converted from the PC is immaterial. The pieces Cody has written about are genuine Amiga mods, presumably created on the Amiga and meant to be played back on it too. The Elk God was the ultimate decisive factor, though. |

@blackcornflake. Did you read my posting in Cody's rankings? Game atmosphere/moodiness etc. are important, & can make or break things, be it a game, or a movie film score etc.,(Be it eg" "Jaws" or Final Fantasy 7, Resident Evil 2 etc.) What I raise a question about is that several classical/moody gaming tunes have either been ranked lower, or left out in favour of a tune which arguably doesn't totally make full use of the Amiga's sound capabilities.

Ah, so the question really should be:
- Does the Ultima 6 music make full use of the Amiga's capabilities? instead of: - Should the Ultima 6 music be in Cody's Top Ten? because whether or not it utilises the Amiga fully isn't relevant to my Top 50 - all that is matters is that I like a mod! Anyway, I do think that the Ultima 6 Amiga music significantly improves on the PC midi tunes and uses the Amiga mod format well. |

At the end of the day Zarkmiester it's:-
Cody's Musically Magnificent Amiga Top 50 Not The Blah Blah Top 50 This is Cody's opinion not a democratic vote. CodyJ should not be persecuted or vilified because some of you disagree with his list. If you don't like it ...... MAKE YOUR OWN DAMN ANAL LIST But remember to call it:- Your Name Blah Blah Top 50 or I'll have ya |

What,& have some coomplaining git like me destroy all that hard work over one selection?! This is a forum, isn't it? BTW Cody, your thread is listed as "......Musically magnificent",is it not? I just thought pushing the music/sonic capabilities of the Amiga wouldv'e been one of your selection criteria, thats all. Most of your selections have been great examples of that! And I never said anything insulting or demeaning, have I? But with Akira temporarily absent, someone had to say something about Ultima 6-& I still say Cannon Fodder beats it any day, so nerr! Agree to disagree & no hard feelings everyone? |

Cool guys, glad to hear it!
To expand on that a little though, who here thought a lot of,(not all though), of the Amiga stuff of the adventure/RPG persuasion had relatively poor music then? I use to play the AD & D games a bit, & although some musical ditties were passable, (if repetitive), most of it was poor unatmospheric drivel. And I don't need to mention Sierra's adventures honky tonk PC elevator music. Once again a case of U.S. pc ports, vs. european amiga orientated development & musical artists like Heulsbeck, Brimble etc.? |
