Think Classic, Think.... er .... Supaplex!

Who would have thought that there would be a webpage dedicated to obscure Amiga game Supaplex?

http://www.elmerproductions.com/sp/index.html

And another older one (now offline, but preserved on the webpage above):

http://www.elmerproductions.com/sp/hildeh/supaplex.htm

There are probably more online too.

Supaplex is an amiga game? I thought it was a pc only game.

Supaplex was nice. I liked Legend of Myra though. Some funny features in that game. Like dropping the nuclear bomb.

I also remember it as a horrendous PC game, I never seen the Amiga version before! My ex-gf used to go bananas with this piece of shite. Then again, what else could she play in a piece of crap 386 pc? :P

Do you have it then Cody? And could you upload it? Both URL's you posted only mentioned the PC versions.

Ahh found it was in tosec. I'll just go get it from those.

Hmm Dreamzone is gone
PlanetEmu downloads seem to be down
Emuchina doesn't have it
Aceroms is being it's usual non working state
IRC's newnet server apparently doesn't want me to connect.
And I think I've used up all my luck with google and AEN

Could you upload it anyway even if it is in tosec?

Hey! Supaplex is a cult game! I know many people that love this game. It's cult like, say, Stunts on PC, but in a minor scale. It's like those underground things, you like it, but you never show anyone, only to others friends who also like.

Yah, it's just a boulderdash clone, nothing special really. Could never understand what people see in this game..

Maybe the fact that beside Legend of Myra it was the best boulderdash clone available for the PC. I still liked legend of myra, but with new pc's and windows comes problems running games.

What config should I use? Whenever I try running the game in an emulator I get graphics garbage(and WinUAE loads very slowly)

Just as an aside, since some didn't know this game was even on the Amiga, this game was actually on the Amiga first (as you can read on the Supaplex History page on that first site). You'll note that the PC version used *ahem* LBM files (one of the lamest extensions the PC community ever dreamed up!)

Considering that, and the amount of information that page dug up for this game, you'd think they could have delved a little bit deeper into the game's Amiga roots, but go figure (it's barely even mentioned there).

Yep, and you *were* right - this couldn't work "back then".

Now it's October, and we've got Cycle exact CPU and blitter emulation!
Use this one on the latest WinUAE, "more compatible" mode and 100% compatible speed! (crashes in Turbo mode)

After 2-3 minutes (!) of loading, the game works like a charm!
Happy playing!

Since I am out of the loop on new WinUAE updates (due to my slow and buggy PC) and will not likely be able to get much mileage from this game in emulation at this time, does anybody else know if the user-created levels will work on the Amiga version? I'd try them myself, but you know... And last time I went to that page, its nod to the Amiga version was almost non-existant.
