A4000 Gfx card

Looking for a graphiccard for my a4000. Thinking of cybervision and picasso IV. Both are hard to find, seems to be a couple of cybervisioncards on ebay but none with scandoubler/flickerfixer extension. So im now thinking of getting myself some cheaper card to play with until I find one of the above. The Picollo and the Picasso II card seems intresting, anyone has any experience with these? Im not inte 3d games, i only want bigger and faster workbench and maybe play some foundation in a higher resolution... Nothing more than that.

Regards.

I would go for a Cybervision 64 (4meg version) so you can use native screenmodes as well.
The other cards often have 2mb of gfx memory and I don't believe the can work with the same high resolution as the CV64.

Poppe this should be in Marketplace forum and nor prb.hardware if you are looking to buy a gfx card!

Will be moved shortly!!

Also rename the thread to WTB: A4000 Gfx card or similar if you are looking to buy

Hmm, aren't you guys mixing something up here? The CyberVision 64 (non 3D) has builtin monitorswitcher, and the CyberVision 64/3D needs to have the scandoubler/flickerfixer module installed in order to display PAL screens. Or am I wrong?

DoctorQ: you are right, the old Cybervision64 doesnt have a scandoubler, only built in switcher .. i use one and have an external scandoubler and it works 100%! (its one big card) I can recomend this option..

The newer cvision64 3D (and cv64 3D MkII) have to have a "module" installed to show pal screens...

I have both a Picasso II (2MB) and a CV64 (4MB). The later is much better and even though they both have a pass through for native modes, you'll need a scandoubler to view them in a SVGA monitor. If you are lucky enough to find a CV64/3D with the extra SD module this is fine. Otherwise try to find a scandoubler module as well. I run both cards in two A4000 with internal Arxon scandoublers (they attach to the video slot). If you are lucky, you will find them in the German eBay. I bought both for 40 euros in total and they work like a dream.

Alternatively, you may have to look for a PIV, but you'll have to pay a lot for one of those.

nodnod,

I have the CV643D in my A4000 PPC233/060 Tower and a Picasso II+ in this A4000 desktop... both run P96 software and given me no problems...

I dont think you should dismiss the Mediator A4000Di. Although initially 2x the price of a Zorro GFX card, it makes sense if you have plans to expand your Amiga in the future.

For approx £160 you get :
  • Mediator A4000Di
  • Virge 4mb gfx card
  • 10/100 Ethernet Card
  • USB card
  • Soundblaster PCI128 sound card

@alexh:

Still no autoswitcher with the mediator route. I think anyone who has ever had such a card would rate that option very high.

@Patrik

Not really. I don't see the big deal with pushing a button to switch between Voodoo and native output. Plus the $25 I spent on the switch and cables is still less than I would have paid for a Zorro card.

I've got a dual input Iiyama monitor and it has two inputs (1x15-pin, 1xcomponent) and auto-switches itself.

now that's a nice monitor...
the manual video-switch was the main reason I removed the G-Rex1200 from my system...
