Minimig PIC Firmware Flashing
Hi there,
maybe there is someone here that could help me with the problem stated in the topic. I try to flash the PIC firmware but unfortunately i somehow don't get it. I set up the serial connection between the minimig and my PC and used the program tinybootloader to flash the firmware. But somehow it won't work, it seems impossible to get a connection to the minimig and put the new firmware on the pic. I always get an error message like this: "unknown Data "K" <> 4Dh Hope somebody can point me the right direction what to do. |

Are you sure your PIC has tinybootloader installed? From what I saw that error mostly comes from not having tinybootloader on.
Here's one procedure that might help you http://www.minimig.net/viewtopic.php?p=108#p108 Also, what do you use to establish serial connection? |

Thx for the hint but that was exactly what i was doing. I wanted to post in the minimig forum too but it seems there is no admin active as they won't activate my account
![]() For connection i use a serial Null-Modem-Cable. I came to the same conclusion, my PIC doesn't seem to have the bootloader installed. So afaik there will be no way to update it right? So it seems i'm one of the unfortunate who will only be able to use the minimig in its simplest config. How sad ![]() |

Your computer has serial port or do you use some kind of USB to Serial adapter? If it's an adapter it might be the culprit.
Also, what firmware version does your PIC has? Mine has PGL100818 and to be honest I never tried to update it. It's already at latest version (at least according to what I could find), it seems all updates nowadays are for ARM, not PIC. Only update was new core in April, if you don't already have it you can get it here. If everything else fails pic can be updated with regular programmer that has support for PIC 18(L)F252, that's the way you load the bootloader for the first time. |

I have a Laptop with an native serial Port. So no USB stuff.
My Minimig gives me this as info: Bootloader: BYQ100413 FPGA Core: FSB140414 Agnus $00 (PAL) Denise ID $FF More i can't tell. Yeah i know you can program that pic but neither do i or any of my friends have such a device. So thats no way for me. |

If it helps amigakit can flash it for you (for a small charge +shipping) or you can buy an already flashed one with TinyLoader. |

That would be a nice idea. At least it would enable me to update my minimig a little. I was searching for the ARM Controller board, which read about being a huge update for the minimig too, but in vain. Seems they are all sold out. So i would love to get at least a new PIC.

http://www.ebay.de/itm/161277340614 Plus once programmed with an image including TinyBootLoader you'll never need it again so you could sell it for what you paid for it. |

@Alex Hm Could be an Option, though i never fiddled with such so i don't know how much knowledge is needed for that kind of Board. And i need to be sure that it supports that specific PIC chip. So i will decide what to do in a couple of days. Thx for the link and the hint. |
