GQ3 "Gateway to Nowhere" PAL Released
Hello Friends,
Well, it's done (I think ) GQ3 Gateway To Nowhere (PAL version) is released on my Itch.io page (game link below). The NTSC version should be ready to go in about a month or so. The game is freely downloaded but you have a choice to make a donation to the author (me ) or choose no donation and you will be taken to the download link. Whatever your choice, no worries, I'm just pleased you are playing my game. https://g-w-i.itch.io/geos-quest-gateway-to-nowhere This is the continuing adventure of George Angus as he traverses the crazy era of 90's computing centered around the Commodore story (in parody). In these next 2 chapters we focus on Dave Haynie and the immediate years following the demise of Commodore. I received Dave's blessing to use his likeness. Chapter 5 "Haynie's Comet" specifically follows his journey through Pios, Metabox, Merlancia and Fortell (loosely and in parody). I also received permission to use the likeness of another current Amiga celebrity, but you just have to play to find out who it is. The game has over 120 hand drawn rooms.closeups & animations, dozens of puzzles to solve and dozens of mods & samples to enjoy. The most prevalent suggestion in GQ2 "In search of Queen Lorraine" was "more love to the pixel art" so that's what I did, stepping it up considerably (but it is still just 32 colors 320 x 200 Low Res) Once I have the NTSC version done I will upload to Aminet as 1 full LHA with both versions. The game got bigger than GRAC2 could handle so chapter 6 "There be Cows" will be a stand alone GQ3 part 2 with an anticipated release date of late fall early winter 2024. Thanks to the AMOS coding community with their help with some of the GRAC2 glitches that plagued GQ2, this one is solid. I tested it on a bare 600 with 2mb chip all the way up to a 1200 with a pi 4.0 and never a crash. ( thanks adrazar ;-) ) As was the case in GQ2 my email is in the game materials, please feel free to email me any comments, suggestions, errors, issues whatever (so long as you are kind please) I am a one man show, all story writing, coding, music writing and recording, graphics drawing, anim creations , proof reading, testing, all done by just me, so it is likely I have missed much. Some mods, samples and pictures are from the AMOS PD Library, redrawn, recolored, re-recorded to fit/work in the GRAC2 game environment. Authors unknown. Some photos were also reworked to 320x200 res and recolored to fit such as the Commodore building & offices and Job's office. Have fun. Last edited by pngcan; 23 July 2024 at 15:06. |

Great news, I was just thinking about the dearth of point'n click adventures in modern times, and presto! - yours comes along

Hi Friends, well a week since the release and I am so very grateful for all the downloads, great comments, suggestions, and donations I have been receiving to date. Being a solo project and literally all I have to do that I enjoy anymore now that I am a grumpy old retired fart this has been positive for me. Just some updates: I am completing a Walk through Book that should be done by this weekend and will have it printed in booklet. It is in 6"x9" book format, it'll be a magazine type book. It is comprehensive explaining what happens in each room (if you get stuck) and will also have a quick step by step walk through (if you don't want to figure it out yourself. lol) It is 70 pages. Because of the cost associated with printing it, unfortunately it will not be free as the games are. But, if you donated to my itch game page(s) I'll email you the PDF of the booklet . Also now that GRAC2 has had some of its issues fixed that plagued GQ2 with random crashes, I am currently revising GQ2 to fix those so it is as stable as GQ3 is. I'll replace the version in my itch game page and upload a GQ2.1 version to Aminet as well. Thanks again friends. Keep those comments, suggestions coming, good and bad as they are a great help to me moving forward, or fixing what I missed.

GQ3 Manual Available
Hello Friends,
Another update on Geo's Quest. The GQ3 Game Manual and Game Map is done and printed. The Manual is a glossy full color 6" x 9" book consisting of 70 pages and a pull out 9" x 17" full color GAME MAP. The printing cost for 100 copies is $6.60 each US. As I said previously, this is an Amiga love affair Hobby and not a money making venture. So, including the mailing envelope they will sell for $7.00 US. The USPS fee's for media mail is $4.00 to USA, $7.00 to Canada and $9.50 to Europe. That means total should be $11.00 to USA, $14.00 to Canada and $16.50 to Europe. Currently I pay about $87 US for my subscriptions to Amiga Future and Addict each for 6 issues (that's about $15.00 each delivered) for roughly the same product, so it should be comparable for the materials (certainly not the content, I LOVE THOSE MAGS!) They will be available on my itch.io page, ebay and eventually Amazon along with the Box Edition of the GQ series so far.. Thanks friends. Last edited by pngcan; 28 July 2024 at 17:53. |

Really liked the trailer! Excellent work! Not sure why but it did remind me a little of Flight of the Amazon Queen! Looking forward to playing it.

Geo's Quest Game Box and Accessories
Hello friends, hope all are well. I have the boxes and sleeves printed, the GQ3 Manual and Game Map Printed, and the GQ2 Manual and Map are at the printers with an expected completion date of July 30. The Full Box version of Geo's Quest Chapters 1 to 6 will be available by the beginning of August. With GRAC2 being repaired and GQ2 now reworked and solid without the previous GRAC errors plaguing it the games are ready for box format. Although chapter 6 "There Be Cows is currently in development, once it is completed I will email the LHA and Manual PDF for free to the purchaser to complete the box. The printed box is 9 x 6 x 1.5" with a glossy printed sleeve on 100lb color gloss paper, the Manuals and Maps are color glossy on 70lb gloss paper.
The Boxed edition will include : 1. CD with GQ2 & GQ3 on it in both PAL & NTSC versions, and a PDF of both Manuals; (games can be played directly off the CD, but you won't be able to save games to it - but not recommended) 2. SD Card with GQ2 & GQ3 on it in both PAL & NTSC versions and a PDF of Both Manuals;(you will be able to play directly off the SD and save to it as well. - but not recommended) 3. Printed Color Game MAPS of Both Games; 4. Printed Color Game Manuals for Both Games. I have funded this myself (appreciating the dreaded Amiga Prepay history we all likely have been bit by) and the total cost for 100 full boxes was a bit over $1,800.00. So I will be offering the package for sale at $21.99 plus shipping. (not bad for a 2 game box edition game) Final Shipping prices will be $7.00 in the US, About $10.50 in Canada and $16.00 for Europe. I am attempting to find someone, or company, or computer group that would be willing to have me ship all Europe purchases to them in 1 box, then they can distribute them through the local post in their respective country(ies) at the lower local rates. If anyone is interested in this venture , please let me know. Unfortunately as you see, this is not a money making venture, but rather pretty much a break even and nothing for the thousands of hours developing the games exercise, so hopefully it will be a labor of love for the community break even exercise for the volunteer as well. Here's some images of the box. "Why is it so low res Paul?" Well, I'm glad you asked. lol This entire venture has been a truly retro journey. All coding, graphics, music, animations, samples were done on a real Amiga 1200 and 600. Even the Manuals were completed on Amiga Writer, saved to .doc then opened up on my Mac, tweaked and converted to PDF for the printers. One of the pet peeves I have always had with gaming is the fabulous high resolutions, millions of colors game covers, and manuals building my expectations and then I play the 320 x 200 game. poop! So the box and sleeve are 320 x 200 32 color LOW RES, (that's right baby) just like the game. (Man you should have seen the constant battle I had with the printers, at one point they refused to take the job because the resolution was so low and it looked blurry....."its 320 x 200" I said, "do you even know what that is?....squint your eyes if you're having trouble." lol) Have a good one! Hello Friends, The NTSC version of Geo's Quest "Gateway to Nowhere" (GQ3) is uploaded and ready for download on my itch page found here:
https://g-w-i.itch.io/geos-quest-gateway-to-nowhere. Every room has been re-positioned so that the bottom control panel is no longer cropped on NTSC systems. I intentionally ensured the display was 320 x 200 in the game when I was building it even though it was developed on a PAL system (320 x 256) so that I could reposition the display to be viewed on NTSC systems. However GQ2 was developed in full 320 x 256 display so it could not be changed without converting all 100+ rooms and closeups to 320 x 200. However, the upgraded GQ2.1 "In Search of Queen Lorraine uploaded last week should play better on NTSC systems now as the crop (which was on the top of the screen in this game) is reduced considerably. Thanks and have fun. Last edited by pngcan; 23 July 2024 at 15:07. |

Amiga Addict Issue 3 Reviews GQ3
Hi Friends
Issue 31 of AA has reviewed "Gateway to Nowhere" James Walker, who reviewed "In Search of Queen Lorraine" last year walks through the game with another kind and constructive look at the game. Have a look and keep supporting those good folks that continue putting out these Mags to a relatively small community. I am grateful for his thoughts and his helpful critiquing assists me in making the next one better. GQ2 scored an 84% last year and GQ3 an 83%, both with 92% Grab Facter. WOW! Isn't it wonderful that in 2024, 30 years after the demise of Commodore we can still buy quality, relevant Amiga Mags like we did in the day. Thanks James. Hello Friends,
Thanks to the good folks at Alinea Computer Shop, Geo's Quest Box set is available to mainland Europe Amigans effected today priced at 26.95 euro which includes vat, plus local shipping. This partnership should save the purchaser about 5 euros from purchasing it directly from me and paying shipping from the US, and will reduce the shipping time considerably. (the actual shipping price from US to Europe was nearly $30.00, but I was only charging $16.00 thereby losing about $10.00 per box) so everyone wins with this partnership. Here is the link to their page https://www.amiga-shop.net/en/Amiga-...et::1378.html? RetroPassion in the UK has also indicated interest in offering the game through their store in the UK. Once confirmed I will post their info and link. Cheers, Paul |
