Now be fair Mojo !.........
.....starting a poll with the title " Best Game ever " and only posting two versions of the game plus a " Nilhlistic " viewpoint is not going to spring an over enthusiastic reponse unless it is up against other puzzlers...............or in your opinion is it the only game worth having ?.......play fair ! it was indeed good but within its genre give your voters a " Fair Election " ......or are you planning a " Pirate Dictatorship ?".....

I liked the first one when I played it in 1995. But I find the adventure style too dated now, so I dont like them anymore

I voted Monkey Island 2
Good memories of the playing the Mac version on our (now broken ) LC575 when I was a little 'un. I have yet to find time to play the original, although I do have the amiga version in WHDload-form waiting for me! |

This poll is meaningless, or a playful nudge
What if I love the MI series, (I do) but think that there are better games for the Amiga (I do)? |

Monkey Island 1 is indeed a masterpiece. MI2 is not that big a masterpiece in my opinion. That being said, I could never claim that this series (what about 3 and 4?) are the greatest games of all times. I'm a huge fan of Zak McKracken and Maniac Mansion/DOTT - the whole Lucasarts zany humour thing - and I'm also a huge fan of all the classic adventures of Sierra. And now we're only talking about the adventure genre, what about those other genres? It's fucking impossible to compare games that different just like that. MI might be the best ADVENTURE game (but I'm honestly not entirely sure about this).

Before I got an Amiga, and before I even knew what a PC was I was fairly certain that the boing ball which I saw several places was actually the thing from Trailblazer II

Of the two Monkey Island games, I prefer the original. It always felt more playful, had a better atmosphere (not as "silly" as the second), and more logical puzzles. Number two was way too difficult for me - I had to use a walkthrough to complete it. Still, it was a great game with some very good moments (the cemetary on the first island, for instance - both the digging part and the part where you revived the dead cook).
Both were great adventures, though. Shame they make so few of them these days (Syberia is an excellent adventure, though - and there's a sequel coming, which I really look forward to). |

Hehe, funny poll. I first thought that: "never will there be one of the MI games on the poll list". Boy am I glad I was wrong!
How I voted? Well.. MI 1 of course. there wouldn't be a MI 2 without the no 1 you know! |

haha, sorry to annoy you guys, this poll is purely to invoke people who have forgotten about the game ro remember it..
Personally, i think its obvious i love the games (The Ron Gilbert masterpieces (as in MI1+2), of course Elaine would never have married guybrush, but hey they spread out MI3+4 quite well To be honest i dont know what i love so much about monkey island, i just really really enjoy it, i love the first two games more than the last two - because its all in my head - like when you hear a story and imagine it in your head, i guess its like that for me. Plus im a fully-sponsored LucasArts™ bitch. Hey im not just an amigan advetnure-game playing freak, chaos engine - wheey! SOCCER KID!! waaa!! smash tv ahh.. The next annoying thing i could do (I wont is start a thread about the ending of Monkey Island 2 hahaha; take care guys, i do love you all so much and hey, dont take the poll too seriously I didnt :P |
