Apollo 040 fan not working with Ateobus
Hi I have an ateobus and apollo 040.
The apollo 040 has a fan on it and when the power is connected straight to mobo the fan runs ok. When the power goes through the Ateobus the fan doesnt work =\ The Apollo still works ok but not the fan... Any ideas? |

not enough +5V for the fan??? why not connect the fan DIRECTLY to a HDD molex, like we do on pc's when we add a chasis fan???

The wires are soldered onto the pcb
I would have to add a 2pin head or could I attach a molex head? |

there are molex extension cables for that job that give a +5V or +12V 2-pin plug...
if the reason is that the aetobus needs more power and the fan does not start, I would cut it off now and give power to the fan directly! or give power to the aetobus directly... let's see what others have to say for this situation... I would not turn on the amiga with this prob if I was you... |

Yeah at the moment it runs at 43 degrees C with no fan. I only run it for 5 mins or else it would probably reach 50 degrees or more
With the fan it seems to settle near 37-40 (still not great) How would I go about giving the fan power directly? Last edited by Smiley; 20 June 2006 at 21:16. |
