Realms of Arkania

Starting to go thru some of my Amiga software library and found Realms of Arkania - Blade of Destiny. Now correct me if I'm wrong but was this not an import title, done by a German company and Sirtech just localized the game?

I seem to recall getting the german version at a swap party before this was released in the states.

It was a german game , called
Das schwarze auge.

original it was german boardgame, with a lot of extra stuff.

It was part of a trilogy. But realms of Arkadia was the first game as far as I remember and the only one I saw an english translation of.

This makes me think of a localized RPG (real RPG, a toned down AD&D) I've played when I was little, not a boardgame. In Dutch it was called "Het Oog des Meesters", which in English means "The Eye of the Master". Arkadia (iirc) was indeed the fantasy world the stories developed in.

I'll have a look at this Realm of Arkadia thing, it could bring back memories...

Update: Thanks to the links posted, I see it's indeed the RPG I've been playing when I was a lot younger. Allow me to sit back and reminisce.

The other ones didn't make it to Amiga did they? I've seen the PC version of one of the sequels. It had a nice 3d engine and seemed as good as the first one. I didn't investigate it further because DOS makes me sick

Actually I think there was more then one sequel to Realms of Arkania, of course only on IBM(DOS) and no other platform, not to my knowledge, even a console. I'll do some looking around for it as I'm one of those hardware geeks and has all types of machine. Of course this can be both a course and a blessing

1: Blades of Destiny
2: Star trail
3: Shadows over Riva
(2-3 only on PC)
The fist two you can find in some abandonware sites.
Shadows over Riva, is released in CD
The trilogy is avaible on CD, you can get it from

There's probably a CD rip somewhere. I might have downloaded it but it's impossible to remember right now.

I do have Star Trail somewhere, of course for the PC. I'll check out the german sites as well.
