What are the best games that were specifically designed for ECS chipset?
Hey!
I know what CD32 games are cool, and I've found many AGA games too that are awesome, but what games came out that were really designed to run on ECS on Amiga 3000? So many games are better suited for A500/2000. Of course, the most games came out for that generation of Amiga. But what are your favorite games that work BEST on ECS??? |

The only thing I can think of is The Settlers that if you had more than 512 of chip ram you had additional sounds. Quite a lot of games took advantage of the 60hz mode lemmings for example if my memory isnt failing again.
Don't actually remember any ecs only titles though. |

Hired Guns would also give additional sound effects with the presence of extra chipram.
According to the documentation this was only for machines with 2Mb chip, but really 1Mb chip and 1Mb other would mean there was enough free chip ram to load them. Just like decidal, I don't recall any commercially available ECS (500+/600 only) titles. I'm sure there are some PD/Shareware/etc. games which are, but I can't name any off the top of my head. Although there are some AGA games which really just require lots of chipram and will run on any Amiga with enough. Like Primal Rage for example. |

I don't know about games, but I did discover that OctaMED 6 gave me Guru errors on my A2000 until I swapped the Denise for an ECS one. I guess there are one or two others things that need it, but I don't imagine many games ever did. Even AGA games aren't that massively prevalent.

I'm 100% going for making this machine just an internet use box mostly. I'm going to try out the Wookiechat IRC client I heard about somewhere. AmiSSL so I can login to my webmail accounts. MUI for whatever wants it. OS 3.9 with patches. I'm trying to get this edit to the Startup-Sequence that you do in Boing Bag 3 right. I keep screwing it up and having to boot with WB disk (in another post).

I don't know of any games that were designed for the Enhanced Chip Set.
It was really the most worthless "upgrade" ever. |

Edit - In term of games, yes, because only thing you could really have compared to OCS was more chip memory. |

Eh, that would be 1 extra address line compared to the 1Mb chip RAM version, trivial really.

Yeah, but how many people had a 2mb upgrade? Less than 1% would be my guess.

Most people are buying Fast RAM extensions rather Chip RAM.
But if remember correctly on A600 was more popular 1 Mb Chip extension rather than Fast RAM extensions. |

How much ECS features use the games Wasted Dreams and Hell Squad ? Is it only the agnus ecs feature to handle 2 MB chipram or are there ecs denise features in use ? I wonder if the graphics differ between aga and ecs ?

Dungeon Master 2 requires 2MB chipram, too. It works on ECS although the box says "A1200"

Jet Pilot? At least it was hard enough on hardware.

Primal Rage is another game that requires 2MB Chip RAM and works on ECS. Box says AGA but that is not the case!

Rise of the Robots ECS/OCS require 1 MB Chip RAM to start.

So do these non-AGA A1200 games that also work on ECS, still require an 020?
