I'm pretty sure Deep Core is the work of Sauron/Miracle with some loader + disk stuff by Conqueror/Agile - not surprised it requires some work to crack

i have tried to approach Deep Core at least a couple of times, without luck.
Nothing really bad, i cannot say for sure what does not work, prolly the levels too much 8-bit style, as sense of freedom
like a single screen game

MFM disk format, multi-part, decrunch, and a few checksums.

I'm going to try to play it. The atmosphere is intriguing, even if the (dull) color palette seems to repeat along the levels.

It moves a little like Gods, but that is where the comparison ends. A decent platform shooter marred by an overdose of door transitions. It's like they had a fetish for making you go through doors and lose your bearings.

Nice reflection effect in the water.

The disks also use weakbits protection. I discovered that with a tool.

This is why it's not possible to make a working extended ADF set for this game.

the weakbit protection is located on disk 1 track 0.0 and disk 3 track 0.0.

I quite like this game. the problem comes from the crashes induced by the disk copy protection if you want to play from original disk version.

The checksum protection crashes..... The only way to play this game correctly in original is through the whdload installed version.

this looks like it's protected against the original

I'll give it a go. I added second button jump so it's going to be more "modern".

Ringo Star/Classic might also be involved? I have a beta (alpha?) version of Deep Core, really nothing more than the main character running around a test level - in the background there are tiles which say things like "Classic rules!"

Yeah I get the feeling half the Swedish crack scene were involved as well as existing members of Quartex which Conqueror was in at the same time.

I heard Gaston was involved which I dont doubt and his name is listed on HOL but also his name in Sweden is the English equivalent of John Smith, i.e. its a super common name in Sweden.

Super Wonderboy

When you load Super Wonderboy, it says for some frames:
* PLEASE INSERT DATA DISK *

before starting the game.

When the game loads and you dump the memory it says in there:
Quote:
If you keep running out, you soon run out of places to run! Psygnosis!! And so do I!!!!!! Please insert data disk and press a key

My guess here is, that WBML is an Atari ST port. Just double checked and the ST version is on two disks.. Seems like it was quite a direct port. :-) Both diskfuls fit on one in the Amiga version.

Just in case, minor factoid

LAURA P. PAUL equates to 'Lorra People' (ref: Cilla Black RIP) as in 'Lots of People' as loads of people worked on this game port from the arcade machine to Amiga/Atari ST.

I worked on the original Amiga/Atari ST version of the title screen for this game before it got mangled into another version because the eyes were way too big (they were, but just my style).

It then also got converted into the Amiga/Atari ST physical box art by somebody else.

I've also since used the same LAURA P. PAUL phrase as coined by the then graphic artist Jason Lihou, in many of my own Amiga games down the years too

The End.
