Another Amiga Music Site - ModP3
Yes, there is already plenty of mp3 sites with amiga music...
but heres my site, ModP3 - http://modp3.mikendezign.com/ Why? It not just game music and not just demo music, its a bit of everything but with a strong focus towards scene music!! Made for fun most of all so any comments are welcome! Would like to know what people think about the encoding quality. (i didnt do it, so no need to hold back ![]() This is also an exercise in Web design for me! Using Php and MySql i have much to learn and would appreciate any comments (via pm if you like) Last edited by mihcael; 06 August 2008 at 07:50. |

Hi mihcael,
always good to have another archive of Amiga and scene music ![]() ![]() ![]() Edit : The conversion of the MOD files to MP3 is okay. I still prefer to listen to the orginal format, because you can mess around with the tune ![]() Last edited by TCD; 09 June 2008 at 18:02. |

Looks good. For some reason the site design reminded my of BTTR when it first loaded.
Look forward to seeing more content on there, and I wish you luck for the future of the site. I hope you have the time to keep expanding it and making it another interesting Amiga centred site to visit. |

Ever done any PT mods? This was not intentional, but perhaps i was sub-consciously inspired by BTTR (which seems to have gone a bit quiet, Ralf??) |

Lossy mp3.
Isn't it a waste of time, converting to mp3 format. Mp3 spoils any music sound, it really cannot handle all the frequencies correctly at any bitrate. You could be using wav format, Using a lossless wav packer such as flac or other, to reduce the wav file size to mp3 size. Both of thse are on both the pc and the amiga, and other platforms. It keeps the sound more original to the original. |

Mp3 cause its easier for us and easier for the listener. I will try some flac to see if i can hear the difference! EDIT- FLAC at 5-6 times the size of Mp3 the quality is not the main concern for me! Last edited by mihcael; 14 June 2008 at 07:09. |

Hi mihcael,
I like most of it. Nice animated logo, pretty good comment on the mods which imo describe well most of the music. If you want to check another lossy format, you should try .OGG, it has a better sound quality than MP3. only "bad" point, i don't like too much the background ![]() |

A good start for sure.
The editorial comments demonstrate that the site isn't just a dumping ground for old files i.e. the person that uploaded a tune has actually listened to it! I wish you guys all the best and hope the site is a great success. Quote:
Mmm I have to agree with you there, in fact I disliked it so much I have removed it with a little CSS hack. Some other design choices (bugs?) should probably be looked at also. The fixed width layout is ok at lower resolutions but looks sort of silly on a widescreen. The rating column un-hide on the Listing Page is quite distracting as it causes all the other columns to resize. I completely understand your reasons for using CBR MP3 over any other format but do have to wonder if you will be adding an online player in addition to the downloads? |

The background... is in the background.... didnt really have any other options? quite familiar with ogg, but happy with mp3 for the moment!! Quote:
![]() The background... i quite like it??? maybe on a wide screen it is a bit much! You disliked it so much??? ![]() The other comments about fixed width are right at the top of my list and the unhide was just "in the meantime", arsing around!! Thanks for all the coments! |

I converted some of the pattern data that is visible in the banner graphic to it's hex equivalents using a MOD file specification found on the web, downloaded all the MODs from your site, then used Lookdisk to find which file contained the matching byte sequence. Gut instinct told me to confirm that I had calculated the byte sequences correctly which was fortunate because it turns out that octave numbering is not consistent between different trackers, without using the same version of Protracker I probably would have failed.

The design was not tested in Opera, but i assume its more compliant than IE which took some fiddling about to look as intended!! |
