Question How to get the perfect WinUAE display?

There are probably many people like me out there who are simply fed up to the teeth of annoying coloured borders popping up on the sides of the screen whatever you're loading. They're there even on Direct3D and OpenGL. Is the display emulation still not 100% finished yet?

I've tried all the display options available (both tabs) yet I can't seem to get a *perfect* Amiga screen. Is it just my monitor/graphics card being shit?

sorry, had to do that in Akira's absence I hope he'd approve!!

Can you print a screen to show what you mean or something?
Updated drivers etc? Can't honestly recall any issues like what you're talking about, thats all.

i can imagine what he means...
ever tried to disable the vert/hor centering? you also should choose the right resolution for each game, as some use overscan modes.
760x570 often is the best choice.

just use Toni's new trump in screen centering:
null filter ...and as Melroc just said, switch off H and V centering; instead use the H and V sliders in filter settings.

Unlike previous versions that had OpenGL only, null filter will also work on non-OpenGL-equipped machines, e. g. machines with old gfx cards.

Completely ignorant question, but isn't it possible for WinUAE to peek the resolution used\asked by the application\game and change the PC resolution\Window size accordingy?

Or at least have the option there?

I.E.- User sets Highres and Lowres to be used with 640x512 & 320x256 respectively and the Emulation changes accordingly, 800x600 & 400x300 for instance, respectively.

Actually, that's what a real Amiga did.

It is awkward to manually switch Pc resolution for each game\config, using workbench\amigaDOS or gaming\demoing, etc.

Another entire different feature request i'd do would be to switch from the Tab driven config to a netscape\mozilla-esque preferences box - left side, sections; right side settings panel that changes with section selected. The way tabbing works with windows is horrible and the preferences are amounting with each version.

If it weren't for the MS dev stuff sometimes huge sometimes not even downloadable (ordered by CD or whatever) i'd probably give it a try myself.

(sorry so much but)

Nothing personal but ... that was good!
I think this will be possible as soon as a car is able to automatically throttle the engine accordingly to the speed limit on the street it's currently driving on
(maybe by cameras probing the environment for speed limit signs)

Actually, I heard of a car that was able to do this*. The progress of it I'm not sure about now. It was fairly recent, the last couple of months if I recall.

With that being said, WinUAE had better be able to do this auto resolution changer

EDIT:
*By "this", I meant the car is able to change speeds according to the current speed limits. I didn't mean probe the environment for speed limit signs. How it does this changing speeds thing, I don't know. My guess is it asks a central source for the current speed limit and acts accordingly.
