Sarek2K - Passed Away
I got an email today from Oldskooluk, and it turns out that Sarek2k aka Mark passed away in May this year from a medical condition.
Used to be quite a regular member here, just thought i'd pass on the news to anyone who didn't know. |

Terrible news. He lived near me when I was 16 at college. I'd get dropped off at his former house on Hazelhurst drive in Garstang on a Saturday by my Dad and stay all day. His wife Maxine (who sadly died in 2008) always made us feel welcome. Another scener "Agent Orange" was always there too.
Sarek2k aka Mark Robinson was a thoroughly nice guy. RIP Last edited by alexh; 15 July 2018 at 20:39. |

He always used to contribute thoughtfully and meaningfully to the EAB, and he seemed like a really nice person. RIP Sarek2K

Sad news indeed, I liked his graphics in the Nerve Axis demos (Demon's Rage for example). Rest in peace.

Used to live 5 mins away from him at one point in Morecambe.
Haven't seen Mark since around 2003 if I am honest and we haven't talked on Facebook for a couple of years. Mark was in Tesko at one point and he did the entry logo for my Majic Collection site. |

Another sad day in amiga land a thoroughly nice chap and a loss to the community.
It is scary to think that our generation is slowly dwindling |

Thanks to Galahad for passing on the news about Sarek.
I really should have posted about this sooner but I only found out about Marks passing a few days after it happened. I spoke to a few guys about it at the time but it was only yesterday after I spoke to one of his close friends that I realised I should update the Amiga community. Its a damn shame and still a bit of a shock! I knew he had various health problems but I honestly thought he was pulling through and doing ok. After his wife Maxine passed away, Marks priorities changed and he got heavily into the church and community work. He was still very interested in retro gaming, producing art and tinkering with hardware but his passion for the Amiga community and demoscene had faded. We didn't keep in touch that regularly over the last few years but used to send the odd message via Fbook Messenger. I even dug out some of our old long forgotten MSN chat logs and it's only when you look back, you realise how much you actually talked to someone and become very close online friends. I only ever met Mark in person once but he was very pleased to finally meet me and we had a bloody good laugh! We even ended up down his local pub for a beer or two. It's a tragedy that you lose contact with old pals but at the end of the day, people and circumstances change - it's part of life. See you on the other side m8!!! RIP Sarek2k |
