Question Dark Castle Install v1.02

New Install from Stingray for Dark Castle and previous Installers.

When the install is run it says damaged disks or Unsupported version.

Installed with US release "Purple and Black" boxart version.

IPF's taken from disks run fine in AF WinUAE.

It is a different version from those that are already supported. I will update the patch to support your version too.

Am I able to download the revised patch or is it another installment on the WHDLoad site? Thx.

Your version is now supported, the updated patch is available on the WHDLoad site. The code is quite different to the other 2 versions, I suppose it is a rather late version of the game, the Herndon HLS protection is still in place but the encryption has been completely left out.

Thank You Stingray Would the disk-analyse created ipf's (from scp) be without the encryption of the disks or that would be genuinely how it is?

The early Herndon HLS protection featured encrypted executables, the decryption code caused problems on Amigas with a faster CPU than 68000 though. Hence the encryption was omitted in the later version of the game (might be a budget re-release from some years after the initial release), the other part of the Herndon protection (track check/key calculation etc.) is still intact. Short answer to your question: the IPF's are fine, the game code is genuinely without encryption.

is your dump available somewhere ? The one used by stingray has been modified by saving (checked with the SPS encoder).

@Stingray & Snoppy : IPF verified in the zone. The disk A use in track 0.1 a long track as protection. The dump is pristine and not modified.

Thank you Denis I've added all the IPFs that you uploaded today to 'Non TOSEC IPFs' on the file server.

Completely irrelevant for the current update of the patch and an assumption on your part. Please refrain from posting such assumptions in the future, thank you.

Oh come on. The patch of course doesn't need to be modified or not.

I was simply saying that Snoopy original dump is not modified, and nothing more.

PS : I have checked both dumps with the SPS encoder, so i'm sure of what i say.

Sure... I repeat it once again: Please refrain from posting wrong assumptions! You had absolutely no way of knowing which image I used, yet you added noise to this thread by posting your assumption that I have used a modified IPF. I won't say more here as the thread is already filled enough with irrelevant posts that have nothing to do with the actual patch. Next time, please open a new thread when you need unmodified IPF's (which I can perfectly understand) instead of derailing a thread.
Edit: And you might want to rename the IPF you have uploaded to the Zone, the WHDLoad patch had version 1.02 when Snoopy1234 requested his version to be supported. It is not the game version.
