Woody's World, vastly underrated along with Mr Nutz, plus most of the above

@Predseda, try Wonderboy Monsterland if you didn't. My favourite platformer btw (okay, the Arcade version, you got me, but IIRC the Amiga Version is nice too).

A game that's supposed to be similar to Wonderboy in Monsterland is Prophecy I: The Viking Child.

I haven't really had the chance to play it much yet though.

Actually asking about old games doesn't seem like a great idea to me. You could end up with the same old game we already have with just new graphics...
I would check the *new* games on other systems instead and try to bring some new and modern ideas back to Amiga...

Superfrog
Fire and ice
Magic pockets

Something I just want to add, just my 2 pence on platformers.
It’s a bone of contention for some gamers but setting the difficulty level. Stick to the 90s and a sometimes unforgiving difficulty level or go 2020 with a more relaxed approach? Personally I love to see new games on the Amiga. But I’m no longer 11 years old and able to sit in front of my Amiga fighting the same game for 6 hours.

For me gaming is a time to unwind, have fun. I know some people won’t agree, but gaming for me isn’t about playing the same level over and over again, until I’ve memorised the movement patterns of enemies etc. I just want to play, feel challenged but not get overly stressed. Games that stress me to the brink of feeling like throwing the controller at the telly, seldom get played for very long.

Best of luck!

Traps n Treasures and Pierre le Chef!
Gorgeous platformers with cool mechanics. Tough as nails, but still hell of a fun!

Wonderboy is another for the "could have been so good but too rough" list. I can forgive most of the problems like the framerate and the stiff mobility but the boss fights which have been gutted... no.

Gods (even though I don't strictly consider it primarily a platformer)
Turrican 2
Rainbow Islands

It difficult to say based on your screenshot, but it looks like a Mario style control mechanic would suit.

Good luck with the project!

All the ones I like have been mentioned. I suppose if you want to expand on I have to say Ghouls and Ghost, Ghost and Goblins but for the arcade type controls - multi button. I simply hate the push up type jump for example.

I've broken how many single button ATARI type joysticks?!

Air directional control would be awesome.

An underrated game I always enjoy (and one that doesn't seem to have been mentioned yet) is Harlequin. I really enjoy how the jumping feels.

Here are some recent screenshots if you want to see the progress.

Just wondering - The website says this is for the Vampire V4 - does that mean it wont play on non vampire Amiga's? What is the targeted spec requirement?

Great project. I think the community have probably named most of the best games already. Flink (CD32) is a beautiful platform game with all of the quirkiness you would expect from a Psygnosis game. The platformer I played the most as a child, but is by no means the best is Flimbo's Quest. Playing against the clock made this game pretty tough to complete.
