WANTED: Zorro Ethernet card; Ariadne, XSurf etc.

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a Zorro ethernet card, preferably Ariadne. If anyone has one they'd be willing to sell, please contact me at [daleyo -!AT!- gmail -!DOT!- com].

I'm located in the UK.

If this is for an A1200 with a zorro busboard you can always get a compatible PCMCIA wired or wireless card.

I bet its needed for an A2000/3000/40000 though.

Just thought it might be useful.

It's for an Amiga 4000.

Cheers, anyway.

You're not going to get one below the cost of a new X-Surf. Try ebay but in the end you may as well take a hit and get a new guaranteed one from Vesalia or one of the other distributors.

If you have an Ultra Wide SCSI interface (Cyberstorm III or Cyberstorm PPC) and your computers are relatively close together then a SCSI network with Siamese 2.5 to the PC is about 10x faster than an ethernet card.

Ok, here's the situation. I'm just copying this from my post at Amiga.org.

I actually *have* an XSurf (which in fact, did come from Vesalia), but I'm having compatibility problems with it, MorphOS, and my Algor USB card. MorphOS won't boot with the two cards in together, so I want to try a different ethernet card to see if it solves the problem. All of my cards work flawlessly under AmigaOS 3.9.

Quote:
I am having problems with getting my XSurf 3cc card to work under MorphOS - it works perfectly without a single problem whatsoever under AmigaOS3.9, but MorphOS frequently refuses to boot with both the XSurf and my Algor Pro inserted.

I think there is a compatibility problem between them somewhere under MorphOS, and since the chances of any MorphOS developers caring about PowerUP problems is slim and none, I want to try another network card in the hope that it solves my problem.

If someone can provide me with a working card, this one will appear up for sale.

I want to try anything that is NOT an XSurf 3cc - so, one of the previous XSurf revisions, but most preferred would be a completely different one such as an Ariadne.

I'll also add that I'd be happy to do a swap with someone if I pay for shipping both ways and they were willing.

Say if someone were kind enough to lend me their Ariadne and it worked for me, I'd be happy to send them my XSurf (which is pretty much brand new and works flawlessly under both AmigaOS and MorphOS - it seems to be the fact that I have an Algor Pro in there too that makes MorphOS fail to boot). Otherwise I'd be happy to send them their Ariadne back. All of this I'd do as fast as possible.

You would be able to benefit from the clock ports and IDE interface that the XSurf offers. I would be happy to lose these, all I want is my Algor card working alongside a LAN card under MorphOS.

I can assure you that I'm a completely honest guy, all I'm looking for is a favour from someone who can be arsed to lend a hand. I'm new to this board but reasonably well established over at Amiga.org.

Anyway, just an idea. I'm sorta desperate

Wouldnt you be better trying to get a NORWAY ethernet card plugin module for your Algor Pro?

What an excellent tip! I didn't know about that!

Thanks very much, I'll look into it!

That would sort out any incompatibility for sure.
