I actually have the little encoder board that goes inside one of these things. It's busted though. I think I could fix it if I had the values/locations of the capacitors used. One of the disc capacitors on the board has completely disintegrated and I don't know what kind of capacitor I need to replace it with. All I really need is an extreme close-up photo that shows what's written on the capacitors.
I also would like to know the pinout of the 4-pin connector that goes to the keyboard cord, but I could probably trace it out if I needed to. Once I have these two things I'll see if I can get it working. Last edited by Computolio; 17 June 2007 at 20:40. |

Let me get this right, you want the bit that translates the Amiga keyboard signals to PC compatible PS/2 signals, right? The bit inside the keyboard case, not the bit in the tower that translates them back (interesting method btw.)?
I have two of the latter and one of the former (with keyboard). I've been meaning to sell all this stuff anyhow, so I may be persuaded to part with it. |

@eLowar
Indeed the bit that translates the amiga keyboard into compatible AT PS2 standard signals. if you would like i can make an offer by PM and we can then haggle or you could let m know (how much persuading) you need However I am serious about acquring this little gem of hardware for my project as would save me a lot of re-working and time so please let me know roughtly a ball park figure (including postage to UK) as i dont want to insult you with a small amount lol. @Computolio unless eLowar beats me to it, and we can make a deal, I will take pictures of the component board for you. I really appricate your response guys |

I have the case with all internals except the actual keyboard. Interested? I am up for selling it. Here are some pics: Last edited by Smiley; 19 June 2007 at 23:26. |

So wait- it encodes an A1200 keyboard into PS/2-style signals? I thought it encoded it into Amiga signals.
At any rate, here's the capacitor I'm after: Can you tell me what's written on it? |

indeed, this unit converts an amiga keyboard to AT signals (to run under ps2 or 5pin din) so you can use it on a PC, it is the other connection at the amiga end (when in tower) that converts its back to amiga signals.
