How to setup Keyboard to match?

hi there,

I am using a Macbook with german (DE) layout and I also setup my emulated OS3.2 to DE and ENG language.

But it seems that input done on MacBook is not mapped right, like the emulator still uses ENG layout.

Is there a way to change this, so that keyboard layouts are matching (real and emulator)?

And I may add "Amiga-Key" (should be the command key, I guess) is not working as well!

So emulation on a mac is kind of crippled, keyboard wise?

Hi, FS-UAE tries to map physical keys to Amiga as closely as possible (with a couple of exceptions). Please see https://fs-uae.net/docs/keyboard-mapping for more detailed information.

The short version is that physical keys are mapped, not symbols. This means that the keyboard should behave as if you had put stickers with Amiga DE keyboard symbols on top of the PC keys in the same position.

For the CMD key, that's being used as a shortcut key by default. Press F12+K (or Cmd+F12+K) to toggle full keyboard emulation.

Ok - so no DE layout, then... I think I remember Os3.9 on Win-UAE could do this, but hey, maybe memory serves wrong

Well, FS-UAE and PC/Mac keys will not correspond to the DE layout bundled with AmigaOS no. I know some emulators support "symbol" mapping by being able to map host keypress(es) to emulated key combinations depending on chosen layout, but FS-UAE does not do this.

But perhaps there exists - or can be made - a DE keyboard layout file for AmigaOS with symbols corresponding to those printed on PC and/or Mac keyboard, for use with FS-UAE
