It certainly looks impressive but I also hate it, if you see the video then there are numerous times where the player is shooting right at enemies and misses every shot, that's infuriating.

Shockwave does look impressive.

Assume the background is done Startdust style (a scrolling animation so very limited movement) with overlayed pre scaled sprites. Yeah so Stardust basically.

I think it's drawing it line by line, so kinda like a raycaster. You could do the tilt thing with a raycaster engine.

What you can't do is tilt the screen like that if it's a more traditional lotus style engine, that's what we were saying would be too slow (on an a500).

You mean shearing the mountain bitmap vertically? I don't think so. I don't think there is a great way of doing that with the Blitter.

The mountains repeat, I think the vertical shear will be pre drawn in memory at that speed.

Not sure that really counts - terrible road effect, terrible sound effects and terrible game...

A rebuild of the Power Drift Engine on Atari STE!

Makes me wonder, are we amigans defeatists that don't want to do something with big constraints somehow?

It's an interesting question. To me it always seems that at the very least a sizable chunk of Amigans want to have every port "Arcade Perfect" or it that's not possible, then just not to bother.

I think these kind of ports with the HW kept in mind are actually interesting in their own rights, wish we saw more of them.

I hear you: in the current school of thinking a port like NinjaWarriors would be deemed unfeasible in example, while instead the "fun" is to make the impossible possible and catch the essence!

Could you stop saying 'Mario Kart', as such a game does not exist - at least in the context you are speaking of. It's SUPER Mario Kart.

Why do people omit the "Super"? It IS part of the name of the game!

One of the reason is because the 'super' was a kinda prefix for SNES games same as 64 became a postfix for N64 games so feels like facoltative

Most games in the Mario Kart franchise actually do not have the word super in the name so you're making a stink over nothing really. If you want to complain about something, complain about how the word "meme" is replacing the entire English dictionary.

As far as i seen its MO he simply make a stink of everything: seems to be more part of the problem rather than part of the solution

Well, just stumbled in this; is not a sprite based engine indeed, however, when even the speccy comes out with its own F-Zero clone (albeit subsceptible of improvements) you know that a "is not possible on OCS/ECS Amiga" answer is not going to cut it well...
