Theme Park AGA crashing
I'm getting this error after about 2 minutes of playing every time. My machine is an A4000 with Cyberstorm 040. Any ideas what might be causing it?

I hope someone can help you with WHDLoad, I get errors like this all the time and have just about given up on WHDLoad these days. Have you tried running the Macintosh version of Theme Park through Shapeshifter on your Amiga? I think it would fly, it runs nicely on my 030 A1200 in 640x480, so you can see much more onscreen at once.

I could just run the PC version on DosBox on my Mac, but it would be nice to get the 'proper' Amiga version going. Does anyone know what the error means?

My guess would be either pirated WHDLoad key, bad RAM or bad HDD/filesystem.

Definitely not a pirated key, I bought it myself. Doesn't WHDLoad load games in to RAM? If so I assume it can't be an HD issue once the game has loaded. RAM is a possibility I guess but all other games run fine, including ones far more memory hungry.

Run a few memory tests to eliminate RAM problems. The data being loaded into memory can still be faulty if the HDD or filesystem is the problem. There is no checksum on it (although it would be a useful feature to have in the slave). Do you use a maxtransfer setting of 0x1fe00?

OK thanks, can I do a memory test in SysInfo? Or if not what app is best for it?

Sysinfo can't do it.
I normally use MBRTest from MicroBotics. Can't find the download link atm, but can up it to the zone tonight when I get back home. |

I have put the memory test software disk in the zone. Set it to continuous looping and if it doesn't crash or find problems in about an hour, the memory should be ok.

Thought I'd give this a quick bump in case anyone has made any progress as to why it runs so slowly through WHDLoad as documented here:
http://mantis.whdload.de/view.php?id...8a24c173ddcd67 I noticed the suggestion that running 'park' directly fixes the issue, but when I try and run that file the Amiga reboots with the 'software error' red/black screen. |
