Zool 2 CD32 graphic issues with P-UAE
Hello,
I would like to play Zool 2 CD32 image with Retroarch (Version 1.10.3) and P-UAE core (Version 4.5.0b17 1849a0c). In the game I noticed many graphic glitches and inverted colours. Only the intro and menue screens are correctly shown. So I tried different system and video core settings to solve the graphic issues without success. Also the suggestion from kremiso (https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php...highlight=Zool) by unticking 'cycle exact' and using 'immidiate blitter' didn't work for me. I attached some ingame pictures with the graphic issues and my actual game config file. Is there a specific core setting to run the game with correct graphics? Thank you in advance for any help. Regards, Condor-2-4-2 |

Did you actually set graphics chipset to AGA?

Ok, easier for you to tell us what emulated Amiga you are using, so load core, then load content (i.e zool 2 cd32), start the game, then hit retroarch logo and you then scroll down to options and press that, then tell us which Amiga it is currently emulating.
I'm guessing you are using the incorrect Amiga quickstart configuration and are using an Amiga that doesn't have AGA. You need to set it to either A1200 or A4000, ignore CD32 |

I took screenshots from my actual retroarch core settings (see attachment).
You wrote that I should ignore CD32. But with A1200 or A4000 model settings I only get to the kickstart boot screen - the CD32 image will not load. Can you tell me which settings I have to change? |

Sorry assumed you were using a ripped CD32 version to disk or archive

hello
as a non retroarch user, i have some questions have you tried to load Zool2 AGA disks? just to check how does it performs? also, what other options you have changing the 'default' value to the cycle exact option? just on and off maybe? Last edited by kremiso; 24 May 2022 at 17:42. |

AGA version would probably look like Trolls does on an ECS machine:

Hello kremiso,
I tried the whdload install 'Zool2_v1.0_AGA_0415.zip' and got the same graphical issues (and like on the CD32 version, only ingame). I tried the model settings A1200 and A4000 (with and without fastram), both with and without 'cycle exact' and 'immediate blitter' or 'wait for blitter'. I coudn't found any setting combination which works for that game. |

Now I have tested the cd32 image with WinUAE 4.9.1 with following settings:
CPU 68020 / MMU and FPU none / chipset AGA with cycle exact full and cycle exact DMA/memory access / 2MB chip ram + 8MB fast ram / CD32 KS ROM v3.1 rev 40.60 (512k) + CD32 extended ROM rev 40.60 (512k) Here the game runs without graphic glitches or inverted colours. Maybe the emulation in P-UAE isn't as perfect as in WinUAE? |

also, the p-uae seems still in beta? btw, you can open an issue ticket on the Github page : https://github.com/libretro/libretro-uae/issues --- for what it's worth, can you test if it's something similar to the amiberry bug? : https://github.com/midwan/amiberry/issues/187 |

I have opened an issue ticket on Github. If there are new results I will post them here.
Unfortunatly I do not own a SoC based system and coudn't test the game with Amiberry. |

I just updated the core to 4.9.1, so that problem is gone, but unfortunately it brought new graphic glitches, like the weapon selection in Super Stardust CD32 when using Cycle-exact (which also goes away if CPU is running at 7mhz at startup)..
