Amiga 1200 ram boost? (8 mb)
I would like to add more memory to my vanilla amiga (with a hd) so that I can use all games with WHDLoad (aga etc games included ofc) as currently I get alot of memory messages (basically running out trying to start most games) What would be the best addition I could buy with 8 mb extra? (if that will assure that I can run all games)

Yep, 8mb Ram upgrade will run almost all WHDLoad games just fine. One of these little fella's should set you back 30-40 squids.
Put a wanted ad up here or Amibay and I'm sure one will come up with all the people buying new ACA cards and such Steve. |

Ah great would that be ok for the huge amount of disks (10 - 11) on some of the larger adventure games as from what I know it loads all of that into memory. Oh also I want to use the pcmcia port at the same time (I have read some interfere?) Edit: also I need something that will fit in a standard amiga 1200 case with the cover on.

When using an 8mb Ram expansion which has 24bit Ram it will conflict with the PCMCIA address space so you'd need to jumper it for 4mb or swap to a 4mb smm to enable the PCMCIA compatibility. You know you really cant go wrong with the new ACA 1230/28 for £85 its a great buy and will not have any PCMCIA issues plus 64mb Ram will be plenty for even the CD32 games in preload And you'll get a nice boost in Workbench too! Steve. Edit, Most 8mb upgrades fit just fine with the trapdoor in place. the new ACA1230/28 will need a slight mod to the trapdoor as they fitted a socker for the 030 CPU which was an afterthought and it now stops the trapdoor from fitting, you need to file down one of the little runners on the trapdoor, more info in the ACA thread. Steve. |

Which also means that 8 MB should be fine for almost any game. |

As the previous post was almost 11 years ago, I'd hope so?
