Deluxe Paint IV

I have saved a screenshot using the Winuae 'Savescreen' facilty.

How can I load this picture from the folder of 'Savescreens' using Deluxe Paint IV launched under Winuae ?

I would have also liked to istall Deluxe Paint IV unto a Hard drive but I could not find the Install icon in the Deluxe Paint IV programme. Does this programme not come with such an Icon. If it does I woiuld appreciate if someone could place the programme disk in The Zone!

Thanks

AFAIK screenshots are saved in BMP format but DPaint can only load IFF pictures. You first have to convert the files to IFF, for example with IrfanView.

After that store them in a directory which is accessible from within WinUAE (i.e. listed in the Hard Disks list).

Just drag the floppy icon into the HDD's window.

IIRC DPaint consists of several floppy disks. The install icon probably is not on the first one.

Iff ?

I have now just noticed that my Right Click Image Convertor programme changes images into the following formats:

JPG
BMP
PNG
ICO
PBM
PGM
PPM
TGA
TIF
WBMP
XPM

IFF is not listed !

Any suggestions.

Thanks

That's because IFF is an old format that isn't very well supported on newer machines/apps. Paint Shop Pro supports it and Photoshop supports it if you install a plugin for it. But thomas's suggestion would probably be the best choice

Excuse me as I had missed the suggestion..stupid of me !

The problem is that I have installed InfraView and no IFF conversion is available. When I opt for Output format I found no IFF support. Am I missing something. It does have more suppirt formats than Right Click Image Convertor but ni IFF .

Strange, I was sure that IrfanView fully supports IFF.

Well, if you are using WB 3.0 or above, you can read BMP pictures with any Amiga program which supports datatypes if you have a BMP datatype installed. For example you could load the picture with Multiview and then save it as IFF.

BMP datatypes are available here: http://www.aminet.net/search.php?query=bmpdt

IIRC there is also a patch which makes DPaint load pictures with datatypes but I don't remember its name.

IrfanView does only read IFF, writing is not supported. XnView supports IFF writing: http://www.xnview.com/

PNG to IFF ?

He is right, the pics I saved are PNG format.

So do I still have to change them to IFF format to mount on Deluxe Paint ? Which is the best programme to convert them ?

Thanks again

Loading pics in Deluxe Paint

One other thing.

I have converted images in IFF format using XnView. . When I load DPaint however I cannot find the drawer where I placed them. I stored them in the folder hosting Winuae but when I load the options from Dpaint the folder is not visible, even when I clicked on parent. Dpaint does give the chance to load from DFO, etc.

How can I load my pics on Dpaint ? How can I save my converted pictures (Iff) to an empty adf prior to loading in Dpaint.

Thanks

Only directories which have been added to WinUAE's Hard Drives list are visible for AmigaOS.

So add a new HDD directory, give it a nice volume name (e.g. Windows) and enter C: as path.

Then you can find your picture in "Windows:Program Files/WinUAE/Screenshots".
