This Mega Drive game is a nice Ninja game, not good as Super Shinobi but way better than this arcade bore. |

I like Shadow Dancer, another Arcade of my childhood.I have not played the Megadrive version but I am glad that it's different, thus it doesn't compete with the Arcade.

Just like to add The Ninja Warriors into the mix. It was a pretty decent conversion of the arcade machine.

Sad but true: the anims of the magics is are not so intriguing ... even C64 are somehow better. But except for this, this is an awesome conversion!!!

This PD version of Donkey Kong is not super accurate, but is wickedly fun and playable:

I always considered Wonderboy in Monsterland a good conversion, eventhough it was far from arcade perfect it still maintained the same feeling and atmosphere. I agree with most titles given here (Pang, Rainbow Islands, New Zealand Story etc), except ofcourse for Golden Axe and even more Final Fight, the amiga version of FF is a brave try but horrible compared to the arcade/snes versions. Speaking about Golden Axe, as I did in another thread, it has a lot of fancy colours but that doesn't mean it's a graphical improvement, not to speak about gameplay and such even.

I personally thought Satan was, well, the work of Satan.

Golden Axe is a very accurate port of the coin-op (MIX of coin-op and genesis version).

Does BC Kid count?
Not arcade port, but much better than the original PC-Engine game (PC Genjin I) |

Going back to Golden Axe for a sec., I think it was a sum of parts, not so much the best game gfx or sound-FX, or smoothest scrolling but it played well which made a big difference.

Have to go with Arkanoid, although when I first played it I didn't realize it was a coin-op to begin with.

Neither did I.
Me and a schoolmate were not at school, we were at the arcades instead. I can't remember what game I was playing, but my mate motioned to me and pointed over to the corner, where the coin-op was. I don't know why, but my heart nearly jumped out of my chest. Although the Amiga/ST versions were more or less identical, I still poured loads of coins into it. This was like 1988. |

Aye, if I ever find myself in a retro-arcade and see it beckoning me from the corner I'll be forking over some coinage.
Even today, running the emulator, it's one of my "go-to" games when I don't feel like thinking too hard (which these days is quite often). |
