My Amiga 3000 ZIP2DRAM project
My Amiga 3000 had a ZIP2SIMM adapter. However, this hindered the use any A3640-style accelerators. And since I already had some DRAM chips that are pin-compatible with the original ZIP RAM intended for the A3000, I figured I'd design my own adapter to make use of these.
It resulted in a 4-layer board with 32x KM44C1000BT and some capacitors, and it works like a charm. Top view: Bottom view: Mounted inside the A3000: |

Nice work! Are these going to be available to buy or build?

Thanks!
I haven't made up my mind. It is a bit tricky to mount without risking bending the connector pins, so it would be a nightmare to support. However, I have 4 boards laying loose |

What was your approach to getting the zip connectors in the correct place? Just a pair of calipers and patience?

But it works, and I can reach all the jumpers on the motherboard so I won't ever have to remove the card |

Looks nice... and yes, fitting is a pain... you can easily connect it wrong or bend some pins... and always keep in mind the width of the space between the ZIP rows differs in Desktop and Tower...

I might be interested in mounting one of these boards. Although I have to see if I have this type of memory chips in my storage :-)
