Harddrives

I`ve just got hold of a USB2.0 enclsure for 2.5 inch HardDrives.
I installed my old Amiga Harddrive, connected it to the Pc, loaded Winuae and it worked first time. What a great program Winuae is.
My hat goes off to you Tony Wilen

Seems like I had less luck

I can't make my harddrive to work... The drive is recognized by windows.
I clicked "add harddrive" and added it in UAE and whenever I run UAE, the HD led stays lit and the emulator hangs. (F12 won't do anything, the only possible way is to kill the winuae task...)

Leo.

Does the drive/usb enclosure work under Windows? Can you format (full format) it under Windows?

Note that you need to use command line parameter (see readme.txt) if drive contains PC partitions. (=after formatting it under Windows)

Forcing transfer mode to PIO-0 in BIOS made it work. Now everything is OK.

I surely did not want to format it !!

The drive was recognized, dunno if it could have been formatted...

Thanks for the fast reply anyway.

You mean it was old, Amiga formatted drive? Very old IDE harddrives may have problems with "new" transfer modes..

Well, it's quite old, yes: 250Mb from 1993. I thought that the PC would automaticaly fallback to a supported mode for the drive, and it did not as I had to specify it by hand in the BIOS...

Most likely drive firmware bug in higher transfer modes.

Wow, never knew that you could do that! I have been transfering files via CD or floppy, what a great program, I have it installed on my laptop, I still have the problem with magic colours, I have a GFX card in my 1200 and 4000 running at 16 bit still the colours do not match, tried colourfix, didn't work
