A brand new UK Amiga group for the Midlands and the west of England

I've been working on setting up an Amiga user group a bit closer to home for about a year now, filling the user group gap along the west side of England. I've finally got my act together... introducing the West Midlands Amiga Group.

The first meet will be on the 9th December in Telford, Shropshire. So if you're in the area or across the border in Wales, it might be a good fit for you. Or if you just want to get on the road! At the moment I'm trying to gauge interest so I can set the ticket prices appropriately (the more people, the cheaper!), and then I'll put them on sale.

I've got a group set up on Facebook and there's more details about the venue over at the website

We'd love to see you there!

Looks great. Shame I wasn't able to make it. Maybe the next one! Is there a train station nearby?

I like that towered A1200! Is there a write up / break down of how this was done? Did he cut out the Amiga LED from the A1200 case as it looks very similar so a good 3D printed version if not!

There's a couple of train stations nearby, although you might want to grab an Uber to/from unless you're up for the half hour walk.

The towered A1200 is Andrew's from Midlands Amiga Enthusiasts - I think he's had it for a while so I don't think there's a write up. I'm sure he'd be happy to talk you through it at one of the meets though.

Thanks very much, it's my Amiga. Sadly there's no up-to-date video or tutorial, partly because it's been a work in progress since 1999 when I first moved it into the tower case.

It's my original Amiga 1200 that I got for Christmas 1993 and the tower came from a small independent computer shop where I lived in Daventry and cost me £20. Originally I hacked the case up and and had the motherboard mounted but on the 'wrong' side and the back was a mess. The Amiga LED panel is from my original A1200 case.

A few years ago I got a sheet of aluminium, made a new back panel, and replaced the whole back of the case. At the same time I took the front off (inc. the front of the CD RW) cleaned, sprayed and lacquered them.

Recent additions have been the SD card slot (ebay SD to IDE adapter inside), PiStorm32 Lite, and a replacement ATX PSU after the original AT one died.

My original guide video is here: [ Show youtube player ]

And some photos of the clean up are here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/7CNBsppUnUwFme376

We have our Midlands Amiga Enthusiasts meeting in Leamington on 17 Feb 2024, so I'll have this with me.

The logo even reads like the famous Welsh town of Llwmn, hr hr

Awesome, hoping to hop over the pond sometime this summer and get with a(n arcade Twitch) gang! (Some of which are NAG, so there might be some Blackpool!)
