MKick Howto?

Hi Folks,

Well after about 15 years, I've decided to fire up my old 500 again to see what she's really capable of.

I came across Peta's Amiga Page, which details getting tcp running on a 500 and I quite fancy having a go at this for sheer amusement. However there are a lot of assumptions about the readers knowledge! So first step, Mkick.

I have no idea how to even begin with this. I've got a 500 with the 500k RAM expansion and workbench 1.3.34. So far I've connected the serial port to my Linux laptop, and I've created a hombre disk, and transferred MKick to a floppy.

The mkick docs don't make a huge amount of sense to me, has anyone got a plain english howto anywhere?

-Cheers Max.

Why on earth would you want to try TCP/IP via serial on a 1Mbyte A500 with KS1.3?

With an Amiga of that spec you cannot run a web-browser (not enough RAM) or anything like that. You'll have SSH/Telnet and FTP access at most.

That is not "seeing what she's really capable of".

Using Hombre to write back all the Amiga demo's you missed when you were younger is "seeing what she's capable of"

Haha!

I agree, I'm having fun with the demos and games, but I'm really a unix systems guy at heart, and networking floats my boat
