Amiga 1200 + Blizzard 1260

Hi,

I've got strange problem, maybe it's even no problem at all, just need confirmation

Some days ago I bought Blizzard, it works fine, stable etc but when I ran some cool and famous demos by TBL, Loonies etc I noticed some (esp. TBL) demos are kinda... slower or what, simply, I remember them faster from AVI videos... as far as I understand, you amiga guys use 060@50 MHz only, so it should be recorded on 50 MHz machine...

Is it normal? I mean, these demos really run a bit slower than that AVIs? That speed difference isn't much critical, in fact, it appears only in some scenes (I remember that "mountain land scene" from Starstruck -- on that AVI it was nearly smooth but on real Amiga a bit jerky..)

also keep in mind, that videos from demos might be grabbed from winUAE that on a modern pc is WAY faster than any 060...

I believe I was told by one of the WHDLoad patchers at one point that the chip access on the 060, and I'm going to use a technical term now, is actually quite shitty. So some things might run faster on an 030, depending on how they have been coded.

...I think.

ok, i did a little research. i haven't that opportunity to test it in the next few days but this would be completely strange in case it works, wouldn't be?

i expect kalms is such experienced coder that he knows which FPU instructions are emulated and which are native... i (as democoder) can't see single reason why to put some emulated stuff into mainloop for texturemapper or whatever..

but i'll try that cyberpatcher, of course

I believe you will also find that Apolo's are reported to be slightly faster at chip access than Blizzards, but when you compound the fact the Blizzy 060's have a better memory handler and not to mention a damn fine SCSI add on... its 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.
