Floppy disk Just uploaded PDF format Amiga Hardware Reference Manual

Thank's to AlfaRomeo's .doc version I've had a go at improving the formatting and preparing a .pdf version that will be easier to print out. It's in the zone to download. Edits included:

- tired to correct the worst of the OCR errors (hopefully not introducing too many more of my own!)
- paginated the document at the appropriate page breaks
- optimized the margins for printing double-sided in a binder

This is just a draft and I'd still like to include some of the missing figures. Not having the original hardware reference manual myself makes this difficult. I wonder if anyone would have the time or interest to send me cropped scans or even hand drawn versions of any of the following figures?

Figure (page)
1-1 (11)
3-6 (44)
3-8 (50)
3-12 (63)
3-23 (76)
3-24 (78)
4-2 (96)
4-5 (99)
4-9 (113)
4-11 (116)
5-1 (131)
5-3 (139)
5-4 (149)
5-8 (162)
6-2 (167)
6-3 (172)
6-8 (184)
6-9 (190)
6-13 (194)
7-2 (203)
7-3 (206)
8-1 (222)
8-5 (230)
8-7 (236)
8-8 (237)
8-9 (249)
8-10 (249)

Also, does anyone know which edition of the manual I have here? Please give me any comments you have so I can improve the draft

Looking forward to bringing the hardware reference manual back to life !

Anding I think you've made a great job.

I just want to suggest on thing that is justifying the text, for a clearer reading and printout.

Thanks and continue the good work.

@AlfaRomeo

- Many thanks for the pictures. Sorry to be a pain, but do you have any other kind of archive available? I can't unpack .rar with the software on my Windows XP machine (handles .zip) nor with the utilities in AmigaKit (handles .lha and a few others). Would be grateful if you could re-zip and re-zone

@xpect

- I'll try a few sample pages justified and upload them perhaps. Basically the courier font is fixed width so and I'm not sure how it will come out. Of course I could change font too (except for the figures). What font would you suggest?

I think for code and ASCII graphics examples you should stick with the current fixed font of course.

If you ask me for a Truetype font any standard one. Verdana is a personal favorite for readability. But you should try other and see the effect. Arial, Tahoma...

EDIT: Pics on the zone in zip format Anding, but you can install WinRAR which is a great tool (Thanks AlfaRomeo for the original upload)

Hi Juan,

Check "The Zone!" subfolder on Magix's FTP server for the filename AmigaHardRefManual.pdf

You're welcome, mate!

PS: It's always worth looking first in "The Zone!" subfolder on Magix's FTP for files which have dropped out of the Zone. If they're not there yet, just wait a while until the folder is updated again.

I'm still reformatting the PDF manual in a better font, etc. It's a bit slow work (line by line), but please be patient and I'll be uploading a much prettier version soon.

Revised version of the Amiga Hardware Manual in PDF format now in the zone:
- Updated fonts and typesetting
- Inserted figure images
- Optimized for printing double sided on A4

I'm hoping this is just about done but let me know if there are any revisions I need to make.

Enjoy and Happy Easter!

Excellent job Anding.

Just cruising through pages and detected this:

Page 36

In non-interlaced mode, the normal NTSC playfield has a height of 200 video lines. The
normal mal PAL screen has a height of 256 video lines.
Thanks for your effort and dedication to this doc.

Hate to be a drudge here - but any chance someone could re-up this? I checked the FTP server and the zone... I guess it dropped out of both filelists. I could use the printable pdf version for when I'm stuck at home after the surgery
