Sega Lightgun In WinUAE

Has anyone used lightguns in WinUAE?
I have a Sega Master System gun and a few usb to db9 adaptors and am curious to give it a try. The adaptors work fine using joysticks.

Currently in the process of doing a big rearrangement of things so will wait until that's done to get back into playing around with computer gear, but in the meantime was just wondering if it's likely to work.

Thanks in advance.

The Master System Light Phaser works similarly to the Amiga's light gun/pen interface, but has a different pin-out than on the Amiga. Also, since they depend on detecting when a CRT's electron beam scans in front of the gun/pen, a real gun connected via an adaptor isn't really going to work under emulation.

It's not a simple wire through type adaptor. It's uses a microcontroller as well. Both Amiga joysticks and Megadrive pads work fine with it.
Im also outputting to a crt display.

No, it is not going to work. (I guess in theory it could be made to work in lagless vsync mode but I expect horribly bad horizontal accuracy)

USB lightguns do work.

Is a map of those pinouts available somewhere? I have a SMS light gun and I'm curious to try it on the Amiga...

Original Lightguns are claimed to work fine with MiSTer FPGA, but only on CRT monitor.

I guess WinUAE adds several layers of lags, so it's not that easy with software emulation on Windows.

http://wiki.icomp.de/wiki/DE-9_Lightpen has a comparison of different light pen/gun ports.

That's a shame.
It works in MAME, so I was hopeful it'd work with WinUAE too.

Thanks for the responses though.

I'll probably buy a Sinden Lightgun® in the future for MAME games... Will it work with WinUAE (I have g-sync and freesync monitors)? If yes, is there a list of lightgun supporting games for the Amiga?

Apparently there's also patched versions of Operation Wolf and Operation Thunderbolt on Amiga that support lightguns.
Ive not seen it myself, but there's a video on the Retro Man Cave Youtube channel about lightguns on Amiga and he mentions it there.
If memory serves correctly he said he learned about it here at EAB.

P.O.W and Capone by Actionware are other lightgun titles that support lightguns that aren't in the H.O.L list.

I checked the video and added several other games to the list. I can't find the thread about the Operation games here on EAB, but maybe somebody else can link it.

USB Lightguns that work with any display device come with sensor box that is put below/top of monitor that detects the position of gun.

At least Aimtrak lightgun is confirmed working with WinUAE. It should work with any USB HID pointing device that returns absolute coordinates.

Sinden is different: uses a border white overlay to delimit microcam area but I think it should work if it does for MAME and other emulators...
