Amiga 500 Atari SC 1224

Hello all.
I have been a long time Amiga fan. Bought one the year after they first came out. I have been an Amiga Forever supporter for years.
I recently bought an Atari 1040 ST and Atari SC 1224 (Goldstar, I think) monitor.
I just bought a stock Amiga 500 Rev 5 Mobo (for very cheap) and was wondering if I can use the SC 1224 with an adapter to display the Amiga?
Second question. It did not come with a mouse either. Can I us a standard PC serial mouse with it? What are my options there?

Any help/links would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ron

Monitor: I do not know.
Mouse: DO NOT use the PC mouse, it can damage the Amiga. You can get a PS / 2 or USB adapter -> Amiga

Sweet! Thank you for the reply.
I will do that for sure. Then I can use any mouse.

Another question for all.
Will any Gotek drive work? Or is there something special about the Amiga versions of the Gotek?

Thanks,
Ron

You can get a cable made that will work. Redmond Cable use to sell them. I'm looking for one as well.

You can use any floppy GOTEK. It must be GOTEK.
Remember that you need to burn a firmware using TTL adapter.

Adapter Ubs -> Amiga like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MKIV-Amiga...oAAOSw3ydVt5YH
or
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Superb-ATA...gAAOSwBLlVDGv3

please, search... you find a lot of adapter

Thank you again for your reply.
Looks like the price is a wash. About the same. Buy a pre-flashed Gotek or a stock one with an adapter.

I think I'll try to build one.
Anyone know a source for a female DB-23 and a Female DIN-13?

Ok,
Found the DIN-13 at one place and the DB-23 and hood in another.
Looks like for three of each is going to cost me close to $50.00. Time and I will have to scrounge up the wire (I think I have some good shielded cable). Anyone feel like helping me out with the costs plus a little for my time?

Thanks,
Ron

Ok,
So I ordered both connectors and wired it up like the diagram in the above post shows.
Fail.
The hand and floppy I can see on the monitor. But it is not very bright and rolls vertical.
The picture is not very good, but you can make out the thumb.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ron

Hi.
Try this:
1) Remove cable pin 11, 12 Amiga.
2) Conect pin 2 Atari monitor to 10 Amiga. (Composite sync)

This seems odd to me. I have used an Atari monitor (SC1435) for years without the need of an adapter. Both Atari and Amiga have a cable ending with a DB9 that connects to the monitor.
Composite signal isn't of the best quality from what i've heard, btw.

Thank you for your reply!

I did as suggested. Same result. The diagram shows pin 2 on the monitor as NC??

Thanks,
Ron

Hi,
Thanks again for your replies.

The diagram in my post above is taken directly from the monitor manual.

Here is a picture of the cable end going to the monitor. All pins exist.

Thanks,
Ron
