Amiga 500 Panasonic floppy drive only spinning sometimes.

Hello folks,

I have a Panasonic floppy drive for the A500 that will only spin if the motor is aligned in a certain angle at startup. I have to manually rotate the metal wheel in order to make it work.

I suspect that one of the coils in the motor doesn't get any currency. My primary suspect is the capacitor in the photo below. It was very dirty, either from a beverage spill through the floppy door or from leakage.

Also, is the disc- or wheel-like component in the next picture supposed to look like that, or has something broken off?

Try replacing the cap, maybe it will fix it. :-)

The trimmer looks like it should.

I will try to do that. Can you help me identify it, so I'm certain to order the right one? All it says is 35 v. I can't seem to see any f value. Also, I suspect you need to be careful not to order one that won't fit physically into the drive. It's only about 6 mm high. Cheers.

It says 10 right in the middle. This is in µF.
