Request: MegaTraveller 1&2

It'd be good to have WHDLoad installers for MegaTraveller and MegaTraveller 2.

Both are DOS games and the original has its own installer but they also have manual protection.

Hi, I also have the original game 1 + 2!

I recently bought a pre-installed CF card my my amiga 1200 which has WHDload and this game on it. Is it not a WHD installed version of it? I'm having a problem with the game crashing very early on when I try to take my party on board the interloper... !

Edit- I've just checked it is WHDload- game version 1.0 from 2009.
But it isn't on the WHD download page now. Can I install my original disks to my CF Card? Thanks

Thanks Aardvark. Do you mean installing straight from the floppy when you say native installation? Or what I have on WHDload? Do you think I might need to add some commands to the icon like NOMMU etc?

Straight from floppies. MT1 comes with an HD installer, but MT2 files needs to be copied manually.

You sure about that?

Isn't at least one of the Megatraveller games protected with Copylock?

I just tested the IPF's, both games plays fine from HD, though i've only played through cracked versions.

As far as I know neither is protected, but I haven't checked. Part 1 definitely isn't as the manual for part 1 says:

Quote:
Note: The disks provided with the game are not copy protected and you are advised to make a backup copy of all the disks before you begin playing.
An old slave existed for part 1 but was removed from the WHDLoad site. Not sure why. Perhaps at the request of the author? (BlueAchenar). I've uploaded to The Zone that install, as well as an install for part 2 from Aladin (I think). Part 2 seems to be a generic slave rather than something written specifically for the game.

Hopefully they work and are good enough until someone steps up to create dedicated installs.

Again, both games works flawlessly from HD without WHDLoad patch.

That's true, and I'm 100% ok with that.

Interestingly though, TheA500 only accepting WHDLoad installs suddenly makes having an install for every game a necessity. That's a whole other topic of discussion though. (and probably won't be an issue in firmware updates when they inevitably will support ADF/HDF files).

Thanks both, I will see if I can get the version I have now working, otherwise I will try to install the game from my disks (if they still work). Just a bit cautious about using floppies after such a long time!

Hi, just want to check, will the HD install work for an A1200? The specs on the MT1 box don't include the A1200, and I remember back in the day it was very hit and miss whether these games would run or crash.
Thanks

How does it not work? I have zero problems running them on A1200 with 060.

BlueAchenar posted working slave (even though the version number is still 1.0) on this thread, that one doesn't crash when boarding the ship.

Also according to Mad-Matt, the MegaTraveller version included in Space Legends compilation contains Copylock protection, the original release definitely doesn't have that.

Thank you, I will try that one . I have the manual so I can use any working version with manual protection.
