Dual Playfield
Is it possible to turn off playfields in WinUAE?
I'm trying to rip Menace but due to the back playfield it's very difficult. |

It's easy to recolor chosen pixels with free Windows tool Photo Filtre. Check box 'color' and choose magic wand.

I'm not quite sure why that matters, are you trying to match a screenshot to the tiles you have found and that's difficult due to the extra layer? Because the painting tools should be able to help you out with that by recolouring them.
If it's some other reason, please explain a little more. A savestate would help if you want me to look. |

The painting tools don't seem to work. They remove the sprites/bobs but not the background parallax
ini and state enclosed. Note I used old gfx ripped by you Codetapper.. This may not help! Last edited by BippyM; 10 July 2013 at 22:56. |

Here you go. You don't need the existing IFF files I ripped, you can rip them with Maptapper! Here's what I did:
1. Loaded the savestate, disabled dual playfield and sprites with Shift-F12 then typed "Ms 0" (kill sprites) and "Mb aa" (kill one layer) 2. Type "x" to restart game and save a screenshot. 3. Load Maptapper, find tiles (16x16, 3 bitplane, ACBM) 4. Because it's dual playfield the colours need to be the second set of 8 colours. The easiest way to flip these is to go to the palette menu and "swap 8 colours", thus colours 8-15 become 0-7 and vice versa. The other way is to use the bitplane assignment keys and set bitplane 4 to permanently on (press the "4" key until it appears as 'X' - you will see "123X5678". 5. The screenshot has an ugly grey instead of black, so I used the paint tool to change the grey to black. 6. Then select some tiles, perform the match - easy from here. From memory Dave Jones said near the end of the level it keeps a blank space repeating (2 screens wide wrapped) until the end of level baddie is destroyed, so it's not quite clear where the exact end of the level is. I've guessed a bit... |
