SFS install in win UAE....again

Hi

I'm following KG's guide to install SFS on a microdrive in win UAE for use on my A1200 http://wiki.abime.net/amiga:killergo...winuae_realhdd

I'm pleased to report I have got this far:

Mask = 0x7ffffffe (There are 6 f’s) MaxTransfer = 0x1fe00 Blocksize = 512
Having set the partitions up (3) all with sfs and the above values in hdtoolbox... "save changes" and "reboot".... and I'm not getting any drive Icons in workbench

I've done the necessary -disableharddrivesafetycheck and "add hard drive" in winuae..... soo

please!

Andrew

Is SFS in your boot partitions L dir. If yes have you launched the Format program, to see if the partitions are listed in there?

OS version? Size of partitions? Drive size? All important information missing

Do you still see the partitions after reboot in hdtoolbox?

No, it's of no use to copy SFS to a partition which needs SFS to be read. If you need to reinstall the HDD you better have it on a floppy disk or another emergency storage, but not on the HDD which is then unreadable anyway.

Forget it, you both missed what I ment completely.

I have it on my boot partition, simply for ease of setting up other drives / partitions. Obviously its a good idea to have it on a boot disk to, but I would rather not mess around with floppy disks.

Next you will be telling me, not to put 2 or 3 filesystems on a HDD's RDB.

Why waste that RDB space with many filesystems, when all you need is one for all your partitions? :-)

S'ok, I asked the question and then went out and had dinner and a few beers as it is friday.

It is a 4GB Microdrive (The hitachi one FOL recommended in one of my other posts) so that it will/may work with my IDEFix express. OS version will be 3.5 with BB1 and 2, although I am using 3.1 install disks to set the drive up - will then load the driver for my PCMCIA CF that has 3.5 on it and run the install from there. I'd rather get as clean an install as possible, rather than 3.1 ----> 3.5 etc etc.

I have no L: dir or anything yet as the drive has no files on it.

Yes the partitions are visible in HDtoolbox after the "reboot", just no drive Icons on the workbench.

Partitions are DH0 303MB, DH1 1654 MB and DH2 1953 MB...

Yes to KS 3.1, WB 3.1 and also automount partition

Try to run Workbench3.1:System/Format and see if the partitions are in the list.
