A1200 - soft reset not working.
A1200 - soft reset not working. Both keys Amiga and Ctrl are working.
My board is 2B. I checked the connection between TP1 and MPU (U13) with multimeter and that's okay and I did reset my A1200 by connecting the first two pins on TP1. I don's see any damage or leakage from anything. I have no other problems with keyboard, etc. What else would you suggest checking? I google for a solution, but failed. Could you point me to something please? |

Press every key, it will switch screen between PAL / NTSC. If it doesn't switch, then current key pressed is not working. |

I tested the keyboard with KME and Pinball games, and in each case Amiga buttons worked. That's why I think it's not an issue with keyboard. Do you think Early Start Menu would show something else? May be there is something wrong with the MPU that doesn't recognize the combination Ctrl+A+A. I read something somewhere, but then how's there's not other problems...

You could try the reset switch http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=24676.

Verify the components in the due to die section and r611,c611 and r612,c612. Actually you have to check the components on the other side of the ne555 timer also. I would first check c611,c612 & c613 Last edited by Vot; 08 October 2015 at 14:49. |

A1200 - soft reset not working.
On the a1200 there is only a resistor between gayle and the keyboard micro.
If shorting tp1 pin 9,10 resets it Gayle is working. (Your pulling _kb_reset low). It has to be a key not working or the keyboard micro. Last edited by Vot; 08 October 2015 at 13:45. |

I'm affraid it may be the keyboard micro, as I tested both amiga keys and ctrl fine in everything else. I am just wondering if there is any test that I can test the micro and see what else is not working with it? I can live with the soft reset and to the reset switch, but it's mind boggling.

Dahman,
Check continuity from pin 38 on the keyboard micro to pin 9 on tp1. And check the resistance on the resistor. Last edited by Vot; 09 October 2015 at 14:20. |

Vot, you mean 41 mpu to tp1 pin 9? I tested 38 and it had continuity, I will test 41 pin to that too, but I look at the schematics and 41 goes into KB_DATA, and there is not KBDATA on TP1.

Let me check it was pretty late when i responded. I might have cocked up. Really I'm just trying to get you to check there are no bad solder joints to the mpu. Yep it was total nonsense check pin 13 and 41 on the mpu have continuity. I suspect it's fine and it does appear its the keyboard mpu. Last edited by Vot; 09 October 2015 at 14:39. |

Just a Little off topic...Software reset (Reboot command) is not working properly on my A4000D.. the machine resets with power led flashing and yellow screen follows.
The keyboard reset works totally ok.. Could that have something to do with my Scsi setup (mobo Ide port is terminated; external Scsi peripherals used with Fastlane controller..) |

If it e.g. messes with exec's structure, or e.g. wipes some RAM, it might interact pretty badly with complex maprom setups (maprom + external modules). Last edited by admiral; 12 October 2021 at 22:02. Reason: executable? |

@Firthy2002
Hmm I have eFlash4000 card. I have flashed some resident devices and libraries there. Have to add that I'm running Move4k at the startup. Mmu aware libraries installed. @admiral The reboot command that OS3.9 uses..will check the version later. Yeah, I think my setup may be quite "complex"; with custom 060 kickstart roms, some modules, libs etc on eFlash4000 card etc.. Last edited by macce2; 13 October 2021 at 01:12. Reason: Move4k; Mmu |

Ok, the problem is now solved!
For some strange reason, the Reboot command was 20 kb smaller on my Sys:c folder; and when I ran the Version command, it failed. Then I copied Reboot command from my WB 3.1 Install floppy using Directory Opus v. 5. The Reboot command didn't work yet. I noticed that the copied file was 64 kb, although it should be 84 kb. When copying the file from Shell, using Copy command with the option CLONE, success! Now the file size is 84 kb on my Hd and the reboot command works ok. However, as you can see, a new problem appeared: Why does DOpus file copying not work as it should..? Has that something to do with the filesystem I'm using or what...?! ( the floppy standard Ffs and my hard drive's System partition has FFs International with Directory cache.) Now I begin to get a little nervous, as I have used Directory Opus regularly and often.. However, I haven't had any serious problems with it earlier (or so I think).. Last edited by macce2; 13 October 2021 at 04:08. Reason: Typos, sorry once again ! |
