Backing up games with copy protection
Well since I've been going crazy on ebay for games in the past year with a serious collector's incentive obviously I want to back up as much software as I can. It's no secret that copy protection can work against you in this case, so basically for me if something doesn't nibble-copy I mark it as 'doesnt backup' in the catalogue.. Of course this is about 70% of the games I have. Is there any software out there that will succesfully replicate the copy-protection? IPF is great but not really of any use as you can't write back to disk.. yet..

Although it's not a 100% solution you need to get yourself a hardware copier, 2 drives and some HD disks my friend. X-Copy (with the Cyclone cartridge hardware) is my favourite - other EAB members maybe prefer others.
Even these systems won't copy 100% of software, but it will copy much more than nibble copy will. Why use HD disks in DD drives you ask? Just seems to work best with some disk based copy protections. But it's up to you to experiment Best look out for a Cyclone on eBay unless anyone here has one to sell... |
