Hi from Toronto, Canada!
Hello Amigos!
I'm Jorge, I'm in my mid 30s, and I'm originally from Argentina, so saying "Commodore Amiga" it's always funny to me because I say "Amiga" with a hard spanish accent. Long story short I moved to Canada a few years back to work as a Systems Administrator, and not long ago I started to enter into the retrocomputing world. It's something that I always wanted to do, but I was not able to afford it, or give it the time that it needs in the past. When I was really Young in my house we had a TI 99/4A, and later a ZX Spectrum. My uncle had a Commodore 64 and I was fascinated by it. Sadly the Amiga was not that popular in South America at the time of it's peak. And issue that we had in Argentina is that no only all of this was super expensive, but also was reaching the country years later it success everywhere else. To give an Example, the TI 99/4A was stopping production in 1983, and you can find advertisings in Argentina for this machine from that time until 1985, when the machine was long gone. By the time the Amiga was peaking and reaching South America, an XT or 286 (Or even a 386) was possible to acquire for not a lot of more money. So here I am, leaving the dream, owning and discovering what an Amiga can do, right now. And I'm enjoying it a lot! Mi Amiga 500 from Germany: I have been thinking joining the forum for a month or two, since I have my Amiga working, and now that I'm having some issues I think is the right time because I don't have anyone else to discuss this kind of things, haha. My setup right now: * Amiga 500 Rev 6A from Germany. * Replaced the floppy with a Gotek. * Recapped. * Soldered 512k of chip ram. * Built my own Arcade Joystick for it. Hi to everyone! |

Great to see yet another member in the GTA! And yes, Jorge, you have to checkout TPUG and come out to World of Commodore! (And it'll sure be nice to have it in person again after two years of being virtual.)
