Apparently they were able to sell hundreds (according to some websites) of these horribly cheap Chinese Smartphones to "nostalgics". As you might imagine, they were very buggy and didn't last long.

Commodore nostalgia is very strong in Italy (and I guess elsewhere, as well) so you can pretty much sell any kind of trash as long as you can slap a Commodore logo on it.

I can understand making a quick buck out of Chinese Smartphones (which you can purchase and rebrand for peanuts), but how much money do they think they will make with the custom products they are churning out now?

I suspect they will start losing money very soon. You might also have another kind of A-EON situation - someone that doesn't care about sinking hundreds of thousands of euros in something that won't ever make a profit.

Yep. Though I'm pretty sure they didn't meet their goals by selling only some hundreds of their product, and as such it was most likely a waste of time and money...

Those PC specs for the 'ultimate' version are horrible. You can get a laptop with those specs for under 500 pound.

It's all very naff, but already got funded few times over. Proves that people will buy any old crap if you shove it in a ~vintage~ casing.

I am truly astonished at the sheer number of people ready to spend money for an underpowered PC in a C64 case.
