I'd say...satisfying, but we all know how Timothy's legal necromancy skills are.

Not particularly in favor of one or the other company but I believe to move things forward its really important that all Amiga-related IP and related rights are controlled by a single legal entity.

There's nothing moving "forward" with Cloanto when it comes to new OS for either classic Amiga or PPC.

@thread

It was not my desire to feature this here, but since you all brought it up you might as well know the facts:

Amiganews.de article (German)

Amiganews.de article (English)

Further discussion can be found from page 12 forward:
Here

Hope this helps in understanding.

If true, the community needs to get together and raise money to buy & open-source the codebase once and for all.

We have never had this opportunity before and, one thing's for sure, we will never have the opportunity again.

A liquidator will have no emotional attachment to the AmigaOS, no delusions of grandeur, they'll just want the money the code worth based on revenue.

Therefore the community needs to get in first, and keep it out of the hands of any company (you know who) who wants to build an empire squatting on 30+ year old code.

Mobilise.

Be careful here. It's not "Hyperion" that is bankrupt, but "Ben Hermans BV". How that is related to "Hyperion" is probably another question.

Hi Clebin,

I advise reading my link to AW, as I also included links to Belgian law, which covers the responsibilities of a "receiver".
Note: German version of the article at Amiganews.de contains comments. Just exercise some caution when reading. heh.

Hi Thomas,

I think the article at Amiganews.de makes it quite clear that this is about more than just Ben's B.V.
Please read.

All I read is that a liquidator has been invoked. Well, that's the normal business. At this point, it is the responsibility of the liquidator to identify all the assets of the company, sell them to the best price and from that pay the debts of the company. Everything else is speculation, including whether or not "Hyperion" is one of the assets to be sold.

While we are speculating here...
IF Hyperion went down the drain, what would happen to the AmigaOS3.2 source code?
Do we risk repeating history with the 3.9 source code? =)

I've seen the term "liquidator" nowhere. The Dutch translation was "receiver".
Power of a receiver far outweighs that of a liquidator where I live.
As to Belgium, I wouldn't know.

He has no part in Hyperion (at the moment).

Hi Thomas,
2nd reply same topic:

I hope this serves to explain all the confusion about "titles":

translator issues

Not unique to any one website.

Indeed. Info takes time to travel and they would be next in line.

as far as ive seen they seem rooted in "retro", as in just selling old roms/bundling stuff with UAE and/or RPI type emulation hardware, so cant see a future there if they have it all. They seem quite "commodore" in just letting the old stuff sell.
